So yeah, pvp is endgame, if you don't enjoy pvp there's probably not much of a point to play this game at all. If you do enjoy pvp, well maybe you'll be lucky and sieges do exist. My bet is I'll hit 80 in 4days, then camp newbies and boardwar flame for a month and quit. But at least it'll give me something to do for a month. Hopefully by then blizzard will have started their beta. Or Aion will be on open beta. Or maybe I'll go back to playing VG some for another month.

| Tortage is about 6-7 hrs worth of content when you get used to it (ie maximizing exp from the destiny quests etc), 1hr 1-10 and 5-6 hrs 10-20. For a first timer and/or casual it's more along the lines of a weekend. There is a bit of raid content at 80, although no one but Raiders of Asura have tested it yet and they're not in a sharing mood for info, so we don't have much info to go on in terms of numbers of bosses/time to clear each etc. Last I heard there were 2 or 3 raid instances with 18 bosses total but that was ages ago. As for assassins being gimp, I'm leveling one right now and a LOT has changed since my last go at it in February. Stealth attack doesn't suck anymore, hp is boosted by quite a bit and I know better than leveling with the lotus tree this time (that last point is my personal opinion, some might have success with a lotus spec by using different tactics.) This latest incarnation of the assassin is actually tons of fun so far, I'm finishing up Tortage atm and I'll let you know if anything changes along the way to make me ditch him. You do have to be a bit careful how you approach mobs as an assassin, rushing in and spamming your combos soldier/barbarian-style is sure to get you killed even against 2 mobs. You do enormous amounts of single target damage, with a stealth attack + swift strike or cunning strike being enough to kill a mob, but you have next to no AE damage aside from the directional attacks. You're also stuck with cloth armor and a mage-like HP pool, only without the absorbtion shield. The main issue with assassin pvp as far as I can tell is that most of the anti-cc feats from the general tree are bugged atm, so anyone who has a knockback, root or stun is pretty much bound to kill you if they get the jump or you miss with your opening combo. I'm really torn between the HoX and the Assassin for my main come launch, it's a good thing I have a few more days of beta to form an opinion. |

Sadly since there's no real way to push healing higher or whatever, I fail to see how they'll be able to design good raiding content. But that's from my healing perspective. However the game definitely looks dull from pve mechanics point of view. I haven't tested myself, but to be honest I don't expect any raiding in any game to be on the level of what I can experience currently in wow, if I could be bothered to log in and raid, aka sunwell. Too bad I can't get myself to spam lifebloom for 4hours anymore ^^. If I'm wrong about aoc raiding, I'll be surprised. Better than a let down thinking it's good and seeing it's shit. It's my current policy with mmos, and it seems to work just fine.

| Anyone have any impressions of the higher levels for a Barbarian? I picked the class despite assuming there'd be a ton of others playing it (Conan the Barbarian...), but I've only seen a handful in closed beta. I'm up to around 18 going down the Reaver path and it seems pretty balanced and it's fairly fun, but it would be nice to know more about how the class pans out at higher levels. |

| Well that would be NDA breaking if someone told you anything after level 13. I wouldn't know anyway. From what I've heard, they are good durable dps classes. Fun in PVP and PVE. I guess I could get a little more vague. |

+2 Internets | You are referring to conquerors, right? I have my doubts about guardians in PVP, but that could change. But from reading public material, guardians with full plate + shield plus a bunch of debuffs and hate gaining skills would seem the obvious choice unless I'm missing something. |

| It's also worth noting that the Guardian is the only of the tanks with access to Full Plate armor, the others are restricted to heavy armor. I heard that the conqueror is supposed to be an avoidance tank, similar to ferals in WoW I guess, and they have a (slightly?) lower hp pool than the guardian. Guardians are 1h+shield or polearm, while conquerors are dual wield or 2h slash/blunt. edit: Schatze beat me to it. All the soldier classes are doing decent in pvp at the moment. DTs have their 6 sec ae stun + 6 sec ae fear & lifetaps so I would assume they are the best soldier class for pvp, it'd be great if someone with some solid lvl 80 pvp experience could expand on/correct this though. I think Nerion used to play a soldier, maybe he can help you out, being a press guy and all. Last edited by Falkensyn : 05-09-2008 at 01:56 PM. |

+9 Internets | Still plan on stick with guardians no matter how much they sucked compared to other classes right now. I am having defender flashbacks from eq2.
