| If his game is running terribly, he fails at computers, b/c that set up is nearly identical to mine, but his has a better cpu. Running the game at 1680x1050 and everything set to max I never dropped below 20 FPS and that was when it dipped, averaged about 30fps. While that isn't as amazing as it could be, it definitely is by no means "terrible" Also, before I get branded as a fanboi, I haven't pre-ordered it and I sold the beta account. Whether I'll be playing or not is down to how many of my friends are playing. Last edited by Vatoreus; 05-03-2008 at 03:59 AM.. |

Second, you can play at 20 FPS if you want, but 20 FPS to me is not playable. So sorry, but I'd rather watch Hillary Clinton debates on CNN than play games at 20 FPS. Ty. I think playing Vanguard is reducing your expectations of PC gaming. Last edited by balouch; 05-03-2008 at 04:02 AM..

| Maybe, just maybe, the engine runs like shit on certain configs and it's not due to the persons hardware but more due to the engine? You know, you can like a game and admit it has flaws. Why do fanbois fall in love so hard? It always leads to such heartache. |

| It seems like RAM is the most important thing for AoC. For a friend it was unplayable until he bought another gig and now it works perfectly fine. Many beta tester reported similiar things. Shitty or too small RAM kills your performance. I run a slightly oc'ed 8800gtx, 4 gb ram, e6750 @ 3.2 or so ghz and I can max everything (including that aa16q, all view distances, etc) at 1680x1050 and it runs with smooth 25 fps in the worst cases so far, usually 5-10 fps more even in pvp. In retail I will lower the settings so I can play with constant 60 fps in the worst cases aka massive siege battles. That means dropping aa and maxing view distance for particles, maybe also shadow details (am I the only one who couldnt care less about shadows?). |

+6 Internets | God, will you idiots pipe down? It's plain and obvious that something is wrong with the interaction between AoC and his rig. That FRAPS doesn't show "poor performance", it shows "bugged to all hell". Upgrading the graphics card might fix the issue, but that would be due to compatibility issues and not pure power increase. But jesus fucking christ, is it really worth shitting up 3 pages here whining that your rig has compatibility issues with AoC? It sucks, we get it. Send them a bug report, cancel your preorder and shut the fuck up. |

| That is my whole point... it is possible that game doesn't run properly on certain configurations. PS drop the holier than though bullshit attitude, it's a discussion forum, we are meant to discuss (which means opposing viewpoints). Last edited by balouch; 05-03-2008 at 05:51 AM.. |

Characters do look great during their creation though, better than any other game I've played (pretty much every MMO released, free or paid). The environments are ok, but still look fake..too shiny / bumpy, except the water, that does look great

+6 Internets | You don't get to call "QQ" to others. Because of your nerd rage tears I could hear water running through my speakers reading the last few pages of this thread. This isn't the Conan Tech Support forum, and noone wants to read 20 posts with details about how AoC skullfucks your specific rig. Can we get back to talking about the game now? The level 20 cap on preorder seems like a really, really bad idea to me. Beta players will cap within hours and spend the rest 3 days bored out of their mind with nothing productive to do. What ever will bored level 20s in Tortage do for days? That's right, gank the everliving shit out of everyone dumb enough to enter Underhalls or Sands more than 10 hours after servers are up. Newbies that preordered will get their 1-20 experience completely ruined. As if that wasn't enough reason to just say no to a level 20 cap, now everyone will start out at the same time in Conall's and sisterzones. Of these I've only seen Conall's, but that zone is NOT designed to accomodate hundreds of players on the same progression level. Tortage is possibly the best "day 1" start zone of any MMO ever since you get to play so much single player there instead of fighting over limited spawns. Why they would throw that advantage out the window is beyond me. |
