| You can register your pre-order codes and create an account finally. The 6 hour maintenance that happened to take 3 days is complete. http://register.ageofconan.com |

| Uh... you can pretty much completely combat this in one of two ways (in different situations): actually put points in the casting concentration skill, or wait until the debuff you get when zoning fades since it increases fizzle chance by 500% on detrimental spells (and heals too iirc). |

| Btw.. do not yet add payment information there. The system seems to be bugged as hell. Good chance you end up like many Hellgate London customers. HGL overcharging customers |

| With all the comparisons to Vanguard in here (which are silly - AoC is a vastly superior/fun game), does the huge difference in egos, professionalism, and honesty between Gaute and "teh Brad" strike anybody else as amazing? Brad was a blatantly lying, sleazy piece of shit who probably hadn't even played "his game" during the last few months of beta. Gaute - while spewing marketing bullshit once in a while - seems like a decent, hard-working guy that actually tries to communicate honestly with the playerbase. I think this bodes well for those of us planning a long stay in AoC. As a former Expert Witness (tm) with over two hundred court trials, I can smell bullshit a hundred miles away. I like this Gaute guy and am glad I coughed up the $90 for the Collector's Edition of AoC. |

And can someone explain to me why a game with such high end graphics just doesn’t seem “right”? For some reason WoW graphics feel a lot more comfortable and easy on the eyes. On another note, the game feels really confined and not open like an MMORPG should feel like.

I've talked to more than a few people who completely missed the "spending the skill points" thing. You can max out the channeling skill by level 10, I believe, and you'll be hating life as a caster if you don't do this. Also, don't forget to double-tap the "S" key when you're trying to cast with mobs in your face. This will add 50% to your evade chance and you won't get interrupted much at all. [EDIT: I noticed today that this adds +50% to your Fizzle chance, so this trick doesn't work any more.] Last edited by Grumpy Old Fart : 05-02-2008 at 08:27 PM.

the game opens up a little bit after tortage, my experience is pretty limited past tortage so ill say that conalls is a much bigger area but still very much railed.. most zones are prolly gonna lean towards the blades edge mountains style where you have a big zone but movement between quest hubs isnt as open as a zone like ungoro or hellfire.. I think the game feels alot like a multiplayer dungeon siege, mostly just cause conalls has alot of high vertical environments (blows blades edge away) and i always think DS when i see big vertical mountain path style zones.

+14 Internets | There's still quite a lot of "You can't beta test this but it's in the game, we're playing it right now, don't worry" stuff. Stuff like spellweaving, mounted combat or sieges(even though supposedly sieges are working and bieng tested, at least that's what I read). |

| Ya, same here. I'm extremely skeptical of stuff that isn't even being shown to closed testers yet. It reeks of "not ready yet". And I also agree that the lowbie spells and skill sets are on the dull side. At least the 1-10 portion goes quickly! Still, I cant say I've ever been blown away by the spell and skill progression of any class in any MMO ever, from 1-10. Im not saying it should be boring but the nature of the genre is start small and end big after a suitable journey. I'm willing to overlook a little early drudgery if the payoff is good. It's also great to hear them addressing my two biggest performance gripes with the stalling and long load times. Even for them to acknowledge is that quickly is encouraging. |

| Game runs smooth on low settings for me... haven't tried putting them any higher. My biggest complaint is the load times, but for some reason today they seem rather short (maybe I'm used to them already?) But even on low settings, it seems absolutely gorgeous. Is there a better looking mmo out there? A stark contrast to the ugly ugly ass UI. I'm almost convinced of actually buying the game at this point. |
