Negative first impressions.

Terrible loading times on a good computer (with 4GB RAM)
Lots of game breaking bugs and Crash to Desktops (including the notorious bug where you materialize at 0,0 in the world, in the middle of nowhere)
Little social interaction in the shared portion of the game
Spammy combat
Unimaginative classes
The graphics are very nice, but lack a sense of being organic -- rather I get a feeling of pieces glued to each other, a somewhat disjointed feeling.
Invisible walls break immersion and frankly are just silly

The loading times and game breaking bugs are really the main issue right now -- I am tired of spending most of the play sessions staring at a loading screen (and zoning is very frequent)

My first impression -- stay away from this for the first few months, and hope it lasts long enough to survive, it could still shape up to be a nice game if it survives launch (the Conan universe is a really cool place for an MMO). Reminds me of Hellgate in terms of bugs/issues for launch if I were to make a comparison to existing flops.

Interesting. I've only seen the long load times the first time I zone into a new place. Thereafter its extremely quick, so much so that the stuff starts appearing on the screen (buildings and characters) within a second or two. I'm not saying the loading is perfect, it sucks having to wait an extra long time on that first load. But, I rank that much lower than the graphic hitching when entering a new area. First time I zoned into Underhall it was nearly a minute before I could make it out of the first room smoothly. Not acceptable by any stretch of the imagination.

Sure, I agree that the game should be fun off the bat, but complaining about not finding every possible weapon type after playing the game for 15 minutes is just dumb.
No it's not just dumb. My point wasn't that you can't find every weapon type Elarien, my point was that it is stupid to get a skill you have absolutely no way of using until after you get out of the tutorial and track down a generic vendor to buy the appropriate item. The skill just pops into your hotbar and you see an onscreen announcement, "Hey you got a new skill! OH WAIT, YOU DIDN'T WANT TO USE IT DID YOU? LOL" Honestly, how hard would it be to change one of the two 2H blunt weapons into an edged weapon? It's called polish.

My load times in Tortage have gone down to like 2-4 seconds, but now the game decided that I'm done loading before any ground texture or NPC model is loaded. It takes maybe 30 seconds now to fully graphic-ize the world just trying to leave the Tavern. I think this is why I didn't find the weapon vendor the first time; I assumed the entrance was empty since I didn't see anyone (what a notion). Then my game crashed, but I have found him since.

The radio review mentioned something along the lines of how WoW does it.

And before anyone flames you, yes this is accurate. Even zoning into a small building can leave NPCs invisibile for a few seconds.

I little birdy told me the loading times were run off of fileplanet's servers, so they won't be as long during release. Plus, they include debug code, so they are longer than they will be during release again

edit: tech beta testers can now log in to the closed beta servers... first to level 80 wins!

Eh, I have a hard time buying the servers causing the load times but the debug code is believable.

And yeah, I can confirm the 0,0 problem too. It also screws your character's collision up in that you fall through bridges and such if you actually manage to get back to civilization (which is possible, surprisingly enough -- I went exploring last night when it happened to me).

This has happened to me all of like 3 times in the beta so far. It wasn't so bad when Call of Asura had a short cooldown, but now that it's 20 minutes it's pretty annoying.

I had to reinstall the client but I'm going to see how far I can get before May 17th.

Nice to be able to play without a level cap. Guess doing that annoying tech testing has paid off after all.

Also does anyone know if there is still a NDA on closed beta, or can we post screenshots etc from higher levels?

My Impressions of the game:

Good:
Classes are Unique and look well done

Feat Trees look like fun

Combat itself is awesome

Graphics are great

Voice acting is great

Bad:
obviously some falling through the world problems and crashes

The single Player portion you cannot even take a friend with you, while it is fun it is kind of perplexing why they thought people would wanna play this alone.

Some retarded stuff like if a demonologist has a pet out and roots a target the pet will immediatley nuke the rooted target and break root.

Itemization is kind of poor/boring.

Overall i like the game and will be pre ordering it.

Thiers the gamespot pvp weekend which was just a small beta for 3 days, and thiers the fileplanet open beta which started yesterday Then their's the early release 3 days early for preorders which starts on the 17th, then everyone can play on the 20th!!!!!!
