| Most people who play these games are a lot older than you think, and please don't give the wow kiddie generalization. I think the average age of MMO players is in the mid-upper 20s actually and LotRO claims that a full 1/3rd of their players is over 35 I think. My uncle is one, he is 50 and plays LotRO.

| Ah well... just thought there may have been a mismatch between the people the game is aimed at and the people who generally play them. I guess I shouldn't have spent those three days leveling herbalism in the barrens last week. ![]()

+14 Internets | Wow probably has a higher number of kids, but the % of kids vs 20+ is probably rather close to most other mmos, maybe barring lotr due to the IP. It's just that since there's more, and kids tend to be loud idiots too, you notice them more on wow. Also as far as I remember, AoC is going to get a 16+ rating. While it doesn't mean you won't meet 12yo playing it, it also means it's definitlely not aimed at them. The movies would give a 25-30ish years old playerbase, the books probably even older. And the graphical style is much different from wow and stuff, it's trying more for a gritty dark world than the colorful wow, or even warhammer. |

| If AoC fails, it's not going to be because the movies came out in the early 80s or the books are much much older.

| I was 14 when I started playing EQ. I was kind of dumb. I rolled a Cleric because I wanted to melee and be able to take a beating with Plate...I didn't even really know they were healers. Guess I should have read the manual. Soandso may have influenced me as well. Anyway, I joined a guild eventually and all that, and they gave me a midnight mallet, it was sweet. Also, I solo'd like mad with that guy. From crocs in Oasis to camping the Gnomes in Lfay all the way to giant skeletons in Rathe...which is where I met some nice dudes, one another Cleric who tutored me over the next week. They were killing the gypsies at the camp near the entrance. Last edited by Blumpster : 03-08-2008 at 12:03 PM. |

+1 Internets | Agreed. It'll be because it isn't a viable alternative, or simply isn't fun. We'll know soon enough I suppose.

| Okay now don't laugh, but Darkfall is actualy showing some promise. I've compiled a post from various posts and articles from Darkfall sites including two videos. The first video in particular is quite good. If AoC fails, and it will prolly will the pve raiders will go back to WoW and there will still be a niche market for PVP/Siege players. Warhammer is RVR based so this is a bit different and too much of a WoW clone for my taste. Darkfall? Maybe.. looking better. - Sinister Quote:
