+3 Internets | GDC 2008 Pre-emptive thread, be sure to check this out periodically on updates. I'm crazy about new information regarding the industry and want to remind those that forgot all about it that GDC started today. GDC 2008 Live at GameSpot |

+10 Internets | Well I'm here, but I guess I don't count? Nothing really happened today, I'm not going in until Wednesday to see the expo, and probably check out some of the crytek shows. I didn't get one of the hella expensive (1k+, I forget) passes to see all of the individual tutorials and meetings and stuff (all I want to see is Art of Final Fantasy anyways). There's honestly not that much interesting this year, but like I said I'm not hitting the expo until Wednesday probably so... we'll see. Maybe I'll listen to Koster ![]() |

+1 Internets | On Friday they are showing off his new thing Metaplace. Might wanna check that out...although if I were you I'd check out the panel about Portal at that same time ![]() I bet you'll see Koster at a bunch of the MMO panels....he's usually one of the top guys in there. He's very well respected in the industry it seems, with all the speeches he gives..he's busy. |

| my roommate is there. Niteflyx from the boards I think. Haven't heard anything cool yet, but I don't think he did anything except travel, get his shit together today. He is more using it as a way to network and get connected to a job. Whatev, he should have fun and what not. |

+32 Internets | I'm here, but primarily for meetings. Had them back to back and didn't actually get to see any sessions. (I had been hoping to see a couple different Worlds In Motion summit sessions.) Talking with friends who did attend a few of them, the secondhand reports of same were primarily comments like: "Standard stump speech" and "Talked a lot about generalities and didn't give useful specifics as to how they succeeded, which makes sense since that's their secret sauce, but I'm not sure why I paid an extra $1000." So far, I'm glad to have had meetings instead. GDC is generally a great newbie-to-the-industry conference, just to give a sense of the huge variety of topics contained in this business. In that sense, it's still excellent. It's also good if you've not been keeping up on what all of the personalities have been talking about for the past year. Once you've been in it for a few years, though, assuming you keep up regularly, you likely already know 90% of everything that anyone's willing to reveal here. - Scott Last edited by Gallenite; 02-19-2008 at 02:42 AM.. |

+1 Internets | Why despise? Sam McGrath & co. are awesome. I'll agree with you to an extent about the PR (when the hell is the damned thing going to get a name?), but I'd rather them keep quiet than keep us waiting forever and rushing out a product. Lest it turn out to be Savage fucking 2... ugh. |
