EQ1 AA changes

Changes to AA Experience

They're planning to add a multiplier to players with fewer AA's so that they can catch up more quickly, finally. Should have been done four years ago but better late than never I guess. They didn't say how high the multiplier will be, only that it will scale down the more you gain. The higher the better imo. I don't think 5-10x would be too much for somebody just starting out with 0 AA. I don't even play anymore but it always pissed me off they wouldn't do something like this that would help new players or encourage old ones to return.

Sorry, couldn't be helped, better to derail the thread sooner than later.

That's cool, and I agree this should have been done years ago. Now they need to streamline the leveling early on and they may have some staying power in EQ again.

This is almost several years too late. People were looking for this around 4 years ago.

Omens of War needed relief at that point. Sony proves again late to the party.

Seriously...At this point they should just give people 1k AA.
EQ Players my old rogue...was so hardcore. Free 1k AA's and I would sign up again for sure.

Oh fuck you - free 1k AA? That covers almost every essential AA in the game. I know people that are near the top end right now with under 500 AA. Seeing as a really good group can get 50 AA in an evening, I don't know how much more coddling you want.

Everyone in the peanut gallery trying to diagnose the problems with a game they haven't played in half a decade. Wonderful.

The majority of the peanut gallery has a different definition than you of "in an evening". To yourself that probably means between 6-12 hour shifts.

People just simply don't have time to go LFG for 2-3 hours, group for a few hours, and get a few AAs that get them nowhere. EQ1 has other roadblocks besides AAXP values. LFG time and group consistency is incredible.

EQ1 is still a very elitist game. And this modifier better be HUGE, or else dont bother doing it.

Fulorian is one of such elitists.

Top end and under 500AA? Who the fuck is that. My 2 boxed cleric had like 3k AA when I quit like 2004...Granted like 3 other people used him but still. 500AA at top end right now is weak. I think 1k AA is weak.

Also essential is the key word. People like me want to jump back in not grind out AA just to be viable.

Just giving people stuff never sloves anything its everquest not everwelfare, after the shine of getting 1k AA given to you wears off the actual game has to deliver. And quite likely its not going to for the same reasons returning players quit in the first place (well those that just got bored with it).

I do agree its four years too late for alot of players. But I think the way forward is making sure that when they do attract new players, the gaming experience must be engaging and interesting and allow for them to catch up to long time players.

The new AA system is a way of addressing one of those steps, but if they are at all serious they need to invest the time of a group of developers/writers for about a year to fully resolve this.

In short, its a band-aid solution if this is as far as it goes, alot more work needs to be done, and in my opinion TSS was supposed to cover the engaging/interesting aspect for new/returning players, and it didn't.

Too bad this wasn't around a long time ago. Fuck AA. Fuck AA in EQ1 forever.

I guess I just expect people to have like 5k AA min now and days 10kish is high end. If that is not the case the it slowed down big time.

The maximun amount of aa's varies between each class, I think warriors are around 2750 to 2800 for instance. I don't believe anyone goes up to 5k AA ?

Considering expendable AA did not exist in 2004 I'm going to call bullshit on the 3k AA.

There are expendable ones which give temporary buffs.
