| Some of you guys are onto something. I agree there needs to be more in place than just a multiplier. Maybe an immersive quest with a pre-req of 0-10 total AA's that grants 25 AA's as a reward. A longer quest for players with 35-50 AA's that grants another 25. Etc... I don't really know where they're at now, but up to 100 *total* AA's seems about right for these quests. Moreover they could use the quests as an opportunity to get people up to date with the current Lore and status of the game. Going overboard a little, they could even restructure some of the Old World. Are Nag and Vox even raided anymore? I somehow doubt that there's enough 53- players to accomplish it, but I really dunno what the current rate of Mudflation is there now. Give Nag, Vox and perhaps Phinny some quests to hand out. Nag could whine about how no one ever fights him anymore and he's growing bitter for the attention. He'll grant you 25 AA's of his own personal power if you spread the rumor to certain NPC's across the expansions that he's a real threat again. Point is, there's still a lot of potential to EQ1, but they rarely execute anymore, and a multiplier (while awesome) isn't going to bring folks back like a real effort would. It's probably not cost effective /shrug |

| Those proposed quests jait would be cute and serve nostalgia purposes. Cost effective? Maybe a days work? Too bad Sony has the creative team of a bag of rocks.

| Everquest has a lot of potential. Everquest could be awesome. Those phrases I could well imagine have echoed inside everyones head that has played this game. Why the fuck they haven't release a suite of tools to enable players to make movies and shit, I just don't understand. Player + MakingMovie + YouTube = No Advertising Costs for SOE. I suppose Youtube, making movies from the game you are playing and the internet delivering to such a wide audience are not concepts SOE understand yet. |

| How about having an old school server wouldn't that be cool?!?!?!?!? Just had to put that in there since someone is going to. I have a friend grinding out AA's using a bot program. Gaining 30 a day solo at level 65 doing some kind of instance something I don't remember and it doesn't really matter. Point is AA's are lame and just hold people back from full potential in an artificial timesink. I would rather have more VT keys to farm then more AA's. |

And Jayrebb, it's an example applying to AA's. The precursor to which was "Restructuring the Old-World". I really dont have the time or wont to type up 70 pages, so I thought that might be a understandable example. Clearly, I was wrong. Making EQ1 a desireable game despite being from the first generation is a task I seriously doubt they'd ever consider cost-effective. They'd probably throw a ton of cliche jargon around like, "We're looking forward, not backwards." In any event, they have a recognizable license second only to WoW in the MMO community, and how they continually fail at properly using it is mind-boggling. The first step needs to be catching players up to date, without overwhelming them. Hence the example given.Last edited by Jait : 02-12-2008 at 08:32 PM. | |
