| Why do people keep saying that? I didn't replace my Naxx gear till level 70 instances, which is as it should be. Hell, I didn't replace my fucking BWL/AQ gear that I had left until level 70 instances - with the amount of awesome enchants I had, unless I was enchanting leveling gear (and often even if I DID) it didn't come out to be as good. I highly, HIGHLY doubt 4 levels into wotlk you will be disenchanting your epics from the previous. It didn't happen in TBC - if you DE'd your shit 4 levels into TBC your stuff sucked anyways. The only characters of mine that upgraded were those I rolled after TBC; or alts previously. Any characters I raided past BWL with, found it a hard time to replace the shit from instances until level 70. Hallowed was only better than my Faith on my priest, and only when socketed and enchanted. And my mix of dragonstalker/cryptstalker on my hunter lasted me a good long while. I started getting epics from Karazhan before I had more than two pieces of beast lord anyways. However, as to different avenues of progression, I mostly agree. Until MH/BT, alot of stuff isn't worth spending dkp on if you do any amount of ZA, especially with the new sunwell badge loot. But that's one thing. That's due to the fact that things aren't an upgrade, or are a side grade. We originally got onto this topic because something was a clear upgrade but was not purchased, due to hoarding points for the upcoming expansion, not even the upcoming patch. Basically the equivalent of not buying perdition's blade during MC days because BWL was coming out 8 months down the line and you just *knew* there would be an upgrade, so why replace anything? The whole thing is really moot actually; its infuriating and incensing to me that someone could claim to be about progression, about killing the big baddies with friends, and then refuse, to the detriment of their guild and their own reputation, to take upgrades that could make progression easier. At the same time, the guild quite clearly allows it, and since the item in question was merely coming from Vashj, it's a pretty good indication that the guild in question fucking sucks anyways so meh. Myself with a hardcore soul finds it shoddy to do such a thing; if you are really about progression, about having fun with friends, of being part of a cohesive unit of like minded, focused and intelligent individuals, then the points don't matter, and you will do what works the best for everyone as a whole. I think alot of people are of the same mind and are sorta turned off by a "me-me" approach that certain people have displayed. You pay to play the game, but not at the expense of others. At least 24 other people are counting on you to pull your share of the weight, and when you come up empty handed, you take something away from them. It's a game but when you are part of that community you have a responsibility to do equal work for equal gain, and some people don't get that. Wow, lots of text. I blame insomnia at 7 am :P |

| As a Mage I upgraded almost every single slot in TBC pre-70 or shortly after Kara was on farm (which was not long really). I did indeed do my tailoring and yes, the longest stretch was waiting on the tailoring patterns to drop. Regardless though, the instance drops from 60-70 (I ran it in a set group 90% of the time) are upgrades if you gem and enchant them. You can do it without of course but it still works either way. I bet I'll sit on my gear to 80 this time though.

I leveled up a draenei mage recently, and whilst leveling her in TBC some of the items I got were totally stupid good. Sandworm gloves or whatever, were better than some raid shit, was truly outrageous. I expect this for mages though, the saga of shitty caster itemization continues! | |

+166 Internets | Your first mistake was thinking developers are involved at all at this point. Fairly certain it's just the cleaning staff takes scraps of paper left over from old design docs that got thrown out during original beta, put them up on a wall, then throw darts at them. The programmers come in on, see the notes with darts in them and think, "OH, this must be what the developers want!" and implement it. Meanwhile, the devs are all in a meeting room discussing whether or not to get a new microwave for the lunch room. |

| On my warrior I had GM weapons and FM armor, all enchanted, and I didn't replace them until 70. The armor at least was sub-AQ40 dps and the weapons were sub-Naxx. Even in S2 gear you will probably ride to 80 without making changes, but why you'd still be in S2 at the xpac release I wouldn't know. Sunwell loot will carry you past 5 mans, perhaps past Heroics, and into the first 25 mans. Even then, as badly as early raiding sets are designed, they might hold out on set bonuses to the next tier. |
