| SB I just got done playing a couple months of Shadowbane so here's my two cents. 1. Sb.exe errors are gone. 2. Rubberbanding lag isn't as bad as it was X number of years ago but there's also no one around to cause it. 3. Movement controls are annoying even when you get used to them. 4. Leveling a character to max is pretty much a joke ONCE you find a group. Getting 5 to 10 levels in a night when grouped isn't out of the ordinary. Finding the group that won't take you to the middle of no where, use you for healing for a few hours, and then kill you for all the stuff you looted while you were there is the problem. 5. If you think X game is full of 12 year old fucks who do stupid shit, you're very wrong, Shadowbane is middle school all over again. 6. Since it's a free game there is a lot of Asian players now who I was never able to figure out how to communicate with even if I wanted to. They usually KOS everyone non asian. 7. People there are very generous. Communicate well and any guild, so starved for players, will gear you to the nines in a matter of minutes. Of course if chars are wiped this means little. 8. The pvp is fun if you're fighting someone within your range. Good luck with that on the servers pre-wipe. Thieves and assassins will roam day and night looking to gank you for next to no reward. 9. They added a travel speed, which I didn't remember at launch being in game, which if memory serves me lets you run at +100% speed with some defense and attack deductions. Makes traveling not as terrible. Still terrible just not as terrible. 10. Healing classes can still summon players to them, pretty neat if you box. 11. NPC AI is still retarded. You can be standing next to a NPC mob and it won't agro. However you can pull something with nothing standing next to it and it'll chain agro shit on you for ten minutes. That's all I can think of quick, hope it helps someone! |

| I played a Wizard (Loreplay server) for an hour or so. Frankly, the graphics are so horrendously amateurish that the rest of the game needs to be godly to overcome this initial jolt to the system. Heck, I just got the ancient Star Trail RPG (circa 1994, running in DOSbox) to run on my rig, and it's more creative and entertaining graphically than this crap. The controls are just awful. Movement is strictly click-to-move and there is no pathfinding at all, so every click has to be in a straight line between where you are and where you want to go. If you click on the other side of a river, your character will walk along the bottom of the river (like, 50 feet down) to the other side. The default camera controls will be re-bound by nearly every RPG player (to WASD in my case), as they are pretty much all 180 degrees off from what anybody is used to and what's intuitive. The interface basically does what it needs to, and is customizable enough to not be a hindrance. There is a "PvP" channel, which I'm guessing lists every PvP kill happening in the game. During Prime Time EST, there were a total of four kills over the course of an hour and a half, so I'm guessing there isn't much "PvP combat" happening in this "PvP game". I enabled every single chat channel the game had (like, 20 of them) and there wasn't a single chat message the entire time I played. There were three other newbies in the only newbie city on the server during my time there. I'm guessing the population is fairly low *cough*. I suppose I'll goof around with other classes, etc. and read online guides, then see what things look like after the wipe. |

| I'm not sure if this has changed since i've played, but you start on 'newbie island' and there is no pvp until you port out to the main land @ around lvl 15-20. Of course you can get there sooner but there was no mobs low enough to kill if you were under 10... at least that's how I remember it. |

| Most people are on Test right now due to the incomming wipe, so if you want to find a decent pop, hit it up right now. Got to 13 decent amount of people on noob island and on mainland. Patch 22 Goes to Test! Post on forums explaining patch changes again, and a link to get onto tests since I myself forgot. And now I also remember why I partially quit, click to move I was never a big fan of. O well I'll have to deal.

+2 Internets | Most of my favorite memories in all of mmorpg gaming were in Shadowbane... unfortunately many of my most annoying memories were there as well. However, I'd probably still be playing if the population hadn't plummeted, and if the server I played on didn't end up dominated (at least 75% of the map covered) by the Asian guilds that were on at all hours, held every mine, and KOS'ed everyone with a huge zerg. |

+2 Internets | I typed shadowbane pvp into a video search engine and watched a video of a guy running around killing like 20 people in a row and his health bar never goes below 100% even when there's like 10 people on him I guess i'll be playing that class if I do play |

| No. I had the same thought a while ago, but the UI and graphics are terrible and point and click FTL. I played for all of 45 seconds, alt + f4ed, and uninstalled immediately Last edited by Lewstelamon : 01-31-2008 at 08:26 AM. |

How often do the ad's play I wonder.... On death: Gatorade commercial At Midnight, or after 4 hours: Mt. Dew Commercial Visting Merchant, or Bank: Johnny Rang's Gold farming service? I think it was Soygen, but someone a while back mentioned all the promise SB had, and I totally agree. But ffs let this game die. A PWipe? In the 21st century. Say it aint so.... | |

| Just walking around town is causing me too much rage to bother continuing with this shit. Fuck point-to-click movement right in the ass. Even with the same control setup I used in Dungeon Siege/DS2 and similar games, this thing just feels incredibly wrong and annoying. Watching all of the videos of city sieges on the Official Site doesn't tend to inspire that the "end game" is entertaining in the least, with everybody standing around in orange-black clouds. I'll keep it installed just to report back what the "crowds" look like in the newbie city in the hours after the server wipes, just because I'm curious. If the "PvP" and other info/chat channels is any indication, I'm guessing the population on the Loreplay server is under one hundred. On the plus side, the spell effects and animations are much better than Vanguard. |
