| If only SB had been less laggy and less buggy. The gameplay was fun and the politics of the whole thing was almost eve-like if on a smaller scale. Unfortunately the sb.exe crashes along with the frequent (and fierce) rubberband lag killed the experience for me. RIP Shadowbane! ![]() |

+1 Internets | With the complete failure of WoW to provide any PvP entertainment (BGs on Stormstrike are a massive joke, if you missed the recent news), this might be some mindless fun for a month or three until AoC/WAR beta invites arrive. Downloading it now. I'll report back here with the usual verbose review filled with the usual foul language and hate within a week. Anybody even remotely seriously playing this game that wants a mean, old bastard to kill people with, PM me. I confess to being a 100% newbie to this game, however, so you'll need to do some major "NO! You fucking newbie!" hollering to me on Vent/TS for a while. Also, being the old fart that I am, don't expect me to compete with the PvP kiddies with any "twitch" class. I'll probably be a healer/CC of some sort (any recommendations?). |

+10 Internets | SB is still my personal "biggest disappointment ever" game. I loved so many things about that game but it was just unplayable with all the bugs. I loved my Confessor and fondly remember destroying Ebonlore's city with the rest of the server (I think it was Fear server). |

| This game was a steaming pile of shit when I played it, but if I were silly enough to play this game this long, I'd be seriously pissed if everything I had worked for in that vritual world was "deleted." |

+1 Internets | So I'm watching these videos of SB from their main site while DL'ing this thing (which is pretty damn slow on my 4Mb/s ADSL). These videos are apparently showing some reasonably competent guilds of players sieging cities owned by other reasonably competent guilds of players. Now, other than the extremely crappy graphics and silly orange-or-black clouds of what I assume are AE damage spells, I can't help but notice a bunch of healers standing around healing - right in the middle of the big melee - and NOBODY IS FUCKING ATTACKING ANY HEALERS AT ALL. What the heck is that all about? Now, granted, playing this game is sort of like my Vanguard excursion last month (i.e., trying out a game exhaustively panned as trash) just to say "yeah, I played that", but does this game have any redeeming qualities whatsoever? Is there a single poster on these forums even playing this thing? And, most importantly, where the fuck are my AoC and WAR beta invites, damn it? I attached a screenshot of my WoW cancellation in the "AV" thread. What more do those fuckers at FunCom and EA/Mythic need to see for me to prove my complete dedication to being an awesome beta tester? |

| Good qualities? 1) The thief class can actually STEAL shit. Like you can look in a guy's inventory and take items/gold/etc ![]() 2) There are some interesting player classes/races, like the bird dudes or vampires 3) You can make a city 4) You can kill cities 5) The PVP is FFA 6) It's very easy to level/get decent items Downsides are the controls take getting used to, the lag usually sucked in large scale sieges, the game was plagued by bugs, the game suffers from "flavor of the month" syndrome heavily, and many classes/discipline rune combos can border near worthlessness. The world is also very very vast...it was great when the game had players, but with low pops it makes it very difficult it find people to kill...let along group up with.

| I played the game at release and started as a thief (back when no-one knew they could STEAL from PC & NPC *hello rune farming*) No other game comes close to the fun I've had pvping in Shadowbane. Of course, like alot of the people playing back then, I stopped playing after our city was destroyed and most of my guildmates left the game... ...oh and also that damn SB.EXE bug!!! -Suby |

| I'm going to give it another spin. Bunch of old guildies are going back as well so I'll meet up with them and pwn shit. Played for a solid year and had loads of fun, but the game lost it's luster after a while. However, since it is free and there is absolutely nothing better to play currently, a complete wipe looks good. While some vets will definitely quit playing, a lot of old players and new people interested since it's free will join up I feel. How long it'll last is a different story. Best advice for new people, figure out which class you want to play and search the class forums on the chronicle website for builds for the classes. Leveling is fairly easy so if you don't like what you pick rerolling isn't horrible.

| Could be like EQ progression (which owned the first few months.) There will be a new people who have no idea wtf is goin on, and a few vets who think they know what's going on but still suck 4 years later =) |

| I also played a thief at release and it was the most fun I've ever had PvPing. Stealing from players and stealth-backstabbing someone sitting down was fun as shit. It's been since 2003 since I've played this game but I think I'll give it another go. Should be pretty interesting with everyone starting from zero... |

| just downloaded and patched (took a total of 30 minutes or so with a cable modem -client is pretty light weight, around 850 mb or so + patch). Interesting enough all my old characters are STILL there, didn't expect that since last I played was 2003... Anyway, for those that ARE going to play, they haven't yet done the wipe on live servers so it's relatively pointless to create any characters at this point unless you're interested in getting a feel for the game before or playing on the test server. For those that are going to play, I'm definitely interested in hooking up with you all in game. Lets organize if there's interest... |
