I know a LOT of people over my time in WoW that have quit, especially around patch 2.0 and a few months into TBC. I quit myself a few months into TBC and played several other MMO's up until late December and came to the conclusion that while there are many many things that put me off about WoW, it's still the best MMO out currently and I'm playing again.

So yeah, I'd have thought their subscriber numbers would be going down as well, but here I am paying again and I was thoroughly sick of WoW.

What I'd like to see them do is invest more of that huge pile o money into creating content for both pve/pvp more quickly. I'd also prefer they get back to objective oriented pvp over deathmatch games but that's probably not in the cards.

Honestly though, I'll probably bolt again to try out AOC and WHO.

I also remember TBC being very polished from a gameplay standpoint. If they can keep 10 million people playing and release a new box ever 2 years, along with free content ever 2-3 months or so, Sounds like it works.
Yes they have added a decent amount of RAID content over the years however to date they have added via patches all of 2 5-man instances (Maraudon & Dire Maul). Both within the game's first year.

They have done a bad job adding small group content. Outside of those 2 instances & the dailies, there has been pretty much nothing added in terms of new content. Yes they tweaked old content a few times, but nothing else that was brand new.

For the money they bring it that is pretty sad.

Supposedly Vivendi gets the huge lion's share of revenue and very little goes back into Blizzard's budget, and what does goes to infrastructure and overhead, which is considerable.

I'd start playing again tomorrow if they added a new low to mid level instance.

After 7 60+ chars, the game starts to get dried out

No doubt. Which is one of main reasons it is so disappointing WoW has no competition. They have no reason to do better because no one else is even close.

They re-tuned and re-itemized the 20-60 instances as well as made leveling quicker through the old world. They will likely never add 1-60 content again unless they add another race in a future expansion.

Blizzard should buy themselves back. They don't fucking need Vivendi.

I've said it before but I would like them to have a team that just goes zone by zone redoing the old content to be more flush with the TBC world. And while they are at it expand into the unfinished areas of Azeroth to finish the old world. If Az had some 60+ zones there would be a lot more traffic in it.

I'm going to be curious to see what BS Blizzard comes up with to keep people in TBC. Because 3-4 months after WotLK's release the Outlands is going to be a ghost town.

I know its been said before but they really need to expand heroics and 10 mans. I raided pre bc through Naxx and really have no desire to get back on the raid grind. Whats silly is they have TONS of content going to waste every day.

I haven't stepped foot in BRD/LBRS/UBRS/Strat/Scholo/DM (well ok I did a bit of DM for my friends epic mount) and obviously ZG/AQ20/MC/BWL/AQ40/Naxx since I resubbed (and rerolled) and am lvl 63 already. Put a team on turning the old 60ish 5 mans into heroics and all pre-bc raids into lvl 70 ten mans and I'd do backflips.

I'm not saying take the emphasis off creating new content, I'm saying they are generating insane levels of cash and could easily afford to put a new team on intelligently using what they already have.

Many have suggested that and it's a great idea -- but Blizzard seems staunchly against it for whatever reason.

Since TBC came out, which made just about every half decent piece of gear useless from the old world, my guess is that Shat and most of TBC will become ghostlands once WotLK comes out with new levels, new content, and the expected "gear wipe".

IMHO, that's a good thing and a bad thing.

I can understand from the "new subscriber" / "casual player" standpoint in making sure that everyone can use the new content without months/years of gear and rep grinding in order to have half a chance in the newer zones. But to make content completely worthless to do (unless your a quest junkie or just want to see it) doesn't make sense from a creation/art standpoint. If I had spend months making a zone (layout, art, storyline, etc) to find out that year or so later it would be made worthless by new content I would feel a bit put out. Hell, even in EQ1 there were guilds hitting Sleepers, NToV, and other "old world" zones long after expansion #10 came out. Now yes, EQ1 had a distinct gear setup which did punish newer players as more and more expansions came out, but there has to be some sort of middle ground not making all that layout and art just sit there, right?

Better yet, use some of the old instances/raids as a starting point for some new BG's

Hey guys I'm queued up for AQ20 where you get to dodge Tornados and Ossirian tries to donkey punch unsuspecting pvp'ers. Whoever gets Ossirian down first (you have to control the crystals like flags) wins.

Ya I've been running LBRS for farming enchanting mats and I have to see I really miss the awesome atmosphere everything in BRM emotes. The place is just so well done. I would love to be able to fly around BRM up to the top of Nef's patio or inside mountain itself through BRD.

Sure those instances were long as shit and hard as hell when we first went through them, but frankly I prefer that to the railroad design of the TBC instances.

The Great Blizzard Reset lends itself to the greatest waste of gaming assets known to mankind. It will quickly become the second greatest waste of gaming asssets known to mankind after WOTLK is released and Outland becomes a desolate wasteland filled only with people hurrying their way towards the level 70 content in Northrend.
