| I agree. The first laptop I got was a "gaming" laptop and it was so hot I couldn't actually even place it on my lap without getting burned through my jeans. Got a desktop 2 years later for half the price and 10x the gaming power.

+40 Internets | For my first few years of eq1 I played on a Compaq Presario laptop. Since I would play every single day almost all day, it would get ridiculously hot. The laptop got so hot that it warped the whole bottom of the case and would leave a rash-like red mark on my upper legs. I can no longer grow hair on that particular spot on both my legs.

+40 Internets | Actually come to think of it, I had many "oops" moments with my GF in the past year and nothing happened. Wonder if I'm sterile?

| Lots of laptops have intake fans on the bottom, too, so if you actually try to use it on your lap it often blocks that fan, causing it to run EVEN HOTTER (brilliant design eh). |

+8 Internets | I have a Gateway NX860XL laptop and I love it (7900gpu, 2gigs ram, core2 duo). Runs WoW, HL2, CS Source, COD4, and TF2 at a solid 60 FPS at 1680*1050. No it won't run Crysis at max settings, but most people's desktops won't either. The only PC game in the near future I care about is Starcraft 2 and it will run that nicely for sure. For heat issues just get a $15 Xpad. It is lightweight, easily fits in your bag, keeps dirt out of your bottom intakes, and you can put it on your lap or wherever. Personally, given how cheap laptops are getting I will never buy a desktop again. |

| I don't see how you can properly control a number of gametypes with a laptop interface. Don't get me wrong, I totally love my laptop and I can't go without it, but doing any serious gaming on it is very awkward and strain-inducing for me. |

| Laptops are great if your on the move, but for pure gaming I'd just go with a desktop. Easier to upgrade, cheaper parts, etc.
