| Asus makes a good laptop. You can buy them from places like Newegg or in a whitebook (meaning branded by the seller even though its built by Asus) form from various internet sellers. I've owned mine for over 2 years now (2ghz 6600GT, 2gb ram, 80gb hdd, 15.4" screen) and only had one problem with it (EQ2 beta fried my video card, hehe). I bought a 3yr warranty with it for like $100 when I bought it so of course they covered the failure and paid for shipping both ways. I've also sold alot of Asus notebooks over the years in my line of work and they've consistently been reliable and given good service. |

| Those laptops aren't just average junk. They have SLI video which is incredibly expensive in a laptop. Of course they are much more expensive than a comparable desktop, but that's always the case. Those are way overpriced and I'm sure a lot of it is just the WoW affiliation but not much more than a non-WoW version with the same power. I managed to get one up to 8 grand without printer and stuff though. Pretty insane if you double the RAM, add in SSD RAID drives and go with the Core 2 Extreme CPU.

| Configuring a standard M1730 compared to a WoW one and the price difference is easily over a grand just from Processor/RAM/HD-RAID upgrading required to bring the standard WoW model in line with the top of the line M1730. I'd attribute the extra cost to the collector's edition shit, not the special paint. You probably can't find that collector's shit anymore, or if you do some asshat wants 500 dollars or more for it. |

Of course there is more to the whole deal than just the laptop: You get a model of your character, upgrade your account to collectors edition(whoppty friggen doo!), and a beta invite to WOTLK (Bribe much?). Still those world of warcraft laptops are just Dell XPS machines with the custom case job, much like Alienware is just generic components with their custom job.0 "I managed to get one up to 8 grand without printer and stuff though. Pretty insane if you double the RAM, add in SSD RAID drives and go with the Core 2 Extreme CPU." I managed to get one up well above 10 grand a couple years ago on one site, it was rediculous.P Last edited by robbrown : 01-12-2008 at 09:41 PM. |

| i've had an xps gen2 since 05. it's ran so hot so often i think one of the fans is broken, as it bluescreens at least once a day. you cannot put these on your lap or anywhere, even on clothing. they're that hot. |

+2 Internets | I wound up buying an Alienware laptop before school last semester because I had literally no where to put my huge desktop + monitor + keyboard. Wasn't cheap, but it's really nice. Plays anything but Crysis very well. The heat can be an issue if you're pushing it hard (Unreal 3 for example), but for stuff like WoW or Dawn of War the fans run pretty quiet most times. |

+2 Internets | If/When they can get a laptop standard (e.g. AT, ATX) then I won't have a problem building/purchasing one. Don't you try to tell me that a standard laptop case/power supply/motherboard/cpu/video card cant be drafted. You have to be a combination of Extra Dorky, and Extra Wealthy to snag that overpriced turd.

| Even more h8 for DELL. "Among questions about training and career opportunities, the most popular question from the predominantly young adult employees was what Dell's favourite game was -- it's World of Warcraft, with a preference to play on the Alliance team. | Look, guys, the important thing is that you can sport a WoW laptop. I mean, even if it ran like Fisher Price: My First Computer you can bet that there still would be a good percentage of doucherockets toting this at all the hot JCs in Southern California.
