Is it just me or is that resolution horrible for a monitor of that size? My laptop runs 1400x1050 but two side-by-side (2800x1050) would not come close to the "over three feet" of width of that Alienware monitor. So, where does the extra foot come from? Stretched pixels?

I like the physical size and wrap-around view. I just think the resolution is only worth quoting as a downside.

From the transcript of Bill Gates keynote speach:

ROBBIE BACH: So, that's an awesome view of what we're doing today, what we're doing in the future, and where we think this can go.

But I do have one last challenge. Now, we have this $20 that I supposedly owe you, and I've got one last challenge for you. I want to see how good you are in Guitar Hero III. (Laughter.)

BILL GATES: All right. I played over the holiday. You can go ahead and bring it on.

ROBBIE BACH: Yeah, you've been practicing. I figured you've been practicing, so let's play us some guitars. Put our guitars on here. (Cheers, applause.) This is sort of like delivering some dueling banjos I guess. We'll take a look at that now.

Actually, Bill, since I know you're competitive, and I know you've been practicing, I actually decided I need to bring a ringer to help me. So, I want to invite on stage Guitar Hero champion, Kelly Law-Yone, better known by her gamertag as TipperQueen. She's going to be my entrant into the contest. (Applause.) Take it away.

KELLY LAW-YONE: Thank you, Robbie, for having me out here in Las Vegas. Let's show Bill how to really rock out.

(Guitar Hero III contest.)

(Cheers, applause.)

ROBBIE BACH: She's pretty good. So, I don't think she missed a note, so I think somehow you might owe me $20. You're going to have to bring it on hard to be able to beat that.

BILL GATES: Well, it turns out I've got my own ringer here. (Laughter.) That's right, I've got one of the Guitar Hero III gods himself, Slash from Velvet Revolver. (Cheers, applause.) (Guitar Hero III contest/cheers, applause.)

BILL GATES: I think you still owe me.

ROBBIE BACH: Well, Kelly, I hate to say it, but I think I owe him the 20 bucks. I think he once again got me.

Ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much. I will see you again next year. Thanks again. (Cheers, applause.)

END

GH is so gay, if these kids spent half the time playing a real instrument they'd sound pretty good.

I play videogames to participate in some kind of fantasy...not to poorly simulate something perfectly attainable.

Dude that CAD comic was so funny, just like all CAD comics.

PS: Yay for OLEDs, and Alienware monitor impressed for about three seconds until I realized it was just two monitors together. Then I was relieved, and realized that the earth had not in fact cracked, and Alienware had not in fact made something with a wow-factor, but in fact just strapped two pieces of electronics together.

but it's like putting 2 guitars together. 2 of anything is better than one! in all honesty, though, that did disappoint to discover that it in fact wasn't a single monitor, because if they made a monitor that fucking awesome i would rob a bank to have it.

it is 4 screens but they claim you won't be able to see it when it hits the market.

edit: watching the video I would have a headache by the time I finished playing a game. the lighting is way off from screen to screen.

You win!

(at getting attention on the Internet.Yay.)

Anyway, having Slash appear at CES is some kind of bad ass. I think Slash could appear at any function and instantly make it cool.
