One thing I forgot to mention is having Kael in the 5 man is interesting. I'd love it if I could somehow get vials without SSC or TK. I run Za with my buddies and I constantly get, you'd be in if you were attuned. I just have no interest is fucking over some guild by joining em just for the vials.

world series of video games did a great job with organizing wow arena tournaments. basically given a stock pool of gear to choose from, allowed to have X amount of subs, and could switch talent each match. you also fought like... 5 times? this was all based on help from blizzard, so dont think they havent already tried to push wow into competitive gaming. i think they did just 3v3 but im sure it wouldnt be that hard to expand to 5's. it seemed they wanted to keep it small since the tournament was touring and wow being inclusive was new to the scene, that way they didnt alienate the market.

Shades of say Delta Force I/II where everyone had the same weapons available and the more skillful players with better tactics would win?

Damn wouldn't that be sweet, finally someone that doesn't play 18 hours / day could kick ass. Of course I am probably misunderstanding the changes.
Ah Delta Force... I would still be playing thee...

I'm pretty sick of running heroics with scrub PVP players who have full Gladiators or S2/S3 gear and think they're hot shit. Make Arena Gear cheaper and then make it so it's only wearable in Arena/PVP. I don't want to PVE with someone who botted Gladiator and started playing in the Arena.

Why? Assuming they're not pompous dicks, what's the difference? As a mage, my PvP gear is fine in 99% of situations so far in my heroic escapades.

Big assumption.

Nothing in the world will protect you from bad PUGs, should you happen to nab them.

I think you guys over exaggerate the lack of skill in PvP to say the least.... Theres a reason Pandemic wins 90% of the tournaments where everyone has the same gear. Sure class composition comes into play, but you people talking about that like it will never be accepted are being rather ridiculous. Esports are still quite young. To say they will simply refuse to allow WoW unless every class is perfect against every other class is just plain wrong. I'm no pro starcraft/warcraft player, but to say that those games didn't have severe FOTM strategies is a bit naive.

If you actually followed Pandemic, you would see this is exactly why they win constantly. It's not because they're better players. They are not. It's because they have every viable class composition on their bench and they switch in counters more frequently and more effectively than any other team by far.

When you play against Pandemic, you can be 100% sure they have already switched to the perfect counter for you, and no other team has been playing the class composition game like they have.

I know several members of mob gaming. When they were in dallas, a few joined me for dinner and we talked about pandemic. They pretty much summed it up the same way, "Pandemic learns to change up their class comp better than the other teams".

I still say Blizzard is doing PvP all wrong. The Arena should be a side dish, and larger scale PvP the main course. The genre is supposed to be massively multiplayer-- yet you'll see more players in Quake's tournaments than in WoW's.

I'd much rather watch rated guild vs. guild battleground matches, in better designed battlegrounds. Battlegrounds where you have 5 people at objective A, 5 people at objective B, 4 people at objective C, and 1 person ninjaing objective D or whatever. Have the camera guy in observer mode flying around the map zooming in on each sub-battle.

The strategy level would be an order of magnitude higher than the arena. You would not only have to defeat your opponents at objectives, but individuals would also need to have map awareness, plus you would have team leaders directing his team with a macro-level strategy to win the match.

Blizzard originally envisioned battlegrounds as a sort of RTS with players as the units. It's a shame they put off developing that aspect of the game for so long. Arenas are just group dueling. If I want to see dueling, I'll step outside Org or download a Ming video. Yawn.

And this wouldn't qualify them as better players? The definition of a better player doesn't specifically mean they can mash buttons better than the guy across from them.
