NO, i dont think he's been taking down yet. I could be wrong, but i dont know. They also opened up more shards for APW.

So let me ask you guys, as people ask in every VG thread.. the updates seem great, but truthfully is the game "there" yet? I mean, how are things otherwise? Performance in general been fixed? Still ghost towns in the early levels? Balance fixed?

they are actually in themiddle of class rebalancing a few classes have been balanced. I think its there now, there is a few problems still dont get me wrong, but you can fully enjoy the game as it is now, and there is now a post level 50 game with raids.

The Devs have been awesome on the boards lately. It took them to damned long to get involved with the fan base, but they have been great lately.

Everquest all over again. And, no, that isn't a bad thing.

I played beta and eventually quit around 20 because it was just too damn boring. Has leveling gotten any better? I liked the game in terms of what it had for potential, but the travel and the other asinine requirements that had to be met before I could have fun made it intolerable.

So the question is, would it be worth getting on now that they have fixed some things and added raid content? Is the economy still jacked up from the exploits? Is anyone playing from this board in any number that I might be able to hook up with?

To anyone and everyone running that program a big fuck you. The mob was unkillable with that kind of lag -- heals could not land in time. You wasted your own guild's time and the time of hundreds of other players.

The fucking mob has a static spawn point that it always paths from you just need to sit at the spawn point and wait. You could have gotten your keys in one hour or less if you had turned the fucking program off. So again fuck you.
You are a Lawyer right?

Unless something is beyond seriously fucked up with the software design, a client sniffing ethernet frames and disassembling the packets already sent to it in NYC can't pin the CPU's on the servers in San Diego.

I am not saying some type of (inadvertent or otherwise) denial of service attack is impossible to cause the end result you are witnessing (4k pings), however it's astronomical odds there. Even client side memory hacks that make you fly around are all local. Its just the nature of a client server app and what is possible on each side.

I would think its more special sauce code floating around when certain classes/items/spells are used in quick succession.

Remember the 'long strider' or whatever the hell it was monk ability that could crash a chunk at will around beta 2?

Nothing can surprise me in the area of VG and weird shit happening.

With Ancient Port Warehouse, how much content does this actually give?
4 hours? 8 hours? 12 hours total?

4 cheese difficulty bosses to start, then what?

How soon will that content be all done and have people looking for more?

hmm.. i am guessing it is going to take guilds to clear all 18 bosses about 4 days maybe when they figure it out? The zone is huge.

They did a partial patch for the ping today. However, one of the lag issues has nothing to do with SOE. Apparently, a third party program similiar to (but obviously not) Macrquest (actual name got me I don't use third party programs) that sniffs packets to track spawns causes horrendous lag when multiple copies are running in a zone.

Umm, if something is sniffing packets (like showeq/macroquest/etc), then it won't have any effect on the zone itself you noob. Not unless whatever 3rd party program is injecting traffic BACK to the server...

However that's not now ShowEQ worked - it just decrypted packets from the server that were being sent to your PC, and used the info to display stuff on another screen, etc.

God I hate people who don't have a clue...if Sony really said it was due to some 3rd party program, you believed them?!? lol

Packet sniffing does not cause server side lag.. tons of people in a single zone/area however, will.

I have played the game three times now (beta, after launch and last month). IMO, I still don't think its ready. I am still catching a decent bit of lag. Also, the charachter models really bother me. They bend forward at the waist when fighting (a no-no of combat). Also, the animations suck. As someone has said before, its because they didn't use motion capture, but hand-drew them. I know they are making changes to the models to look better as well as raise your fps, and the game might be worth it then.
