The good news is that you're still alive. The bad news is that that's the good news. Also, you have no legs.

Why the fuck are people complaining about no heroic overland content? That shit absolutely never gets used by the vast bulk of players, and is a waste of developer time and resources. SOE should have made more use of the arrow con system, certainly they fucked up there, but both Blizzard and Sony have learned that non-dungeon group content is a wash and merely impedes character progression. This is actually one of the most positive things they've learned from the past few years.

The only real problems of RoK are itemization (always fucking itemization), terrible mob strength variety (Although each class/race of enemies is different than ever before), and no choice when it comes to faction. If you had to choose between Rillis or Di'Zok and all the other big players in Kunark it would be much more fun, but because that doubles the amount of content needed to get people to 80 it sadly didn't happen.

There's enough t7 content to negate any need for a SoS for kunark, even though that doesn't console the people who have been plugging away at t7 stuff for the past year and a half. My only massive complain with RoK is that there are too many one shot quests and nowhere near enough story arcs to get caught up in.

Of course, I haven't played Kunark myself, so all the things listed could not be an issue for me (although I am big into lore, and from what I've heard Kunark lacks it).

So much for seeing that new skeleton system anytime soon...

As of January 1st I will be moving teams to be joining The Agency as Character Art Lead. EverQuest II was a dream game for me to work on and we have both grown so much in the last 5 years. I have so many fond memories from our first internal play test in Commonlands, being ganked on the opening day of the pvp servers or trying not to cry when stepping into Kelethin and hearing the familiar songs float by. My fondest memories by far though are meeting other players at SoE Fan Fairs and being part of such a great community. I leave EverQuest II in very good hands though. Bruinen, the former Character Art Lead will be re assuming his old role. The future for EverQuest II is very bright and I myself can’t wait for what the horizon holds. I’ll see you again in The Agency. Don’t be surprised if your operatives discover some Blackened Iron Boots SMILEY

Am I the only one that misses "camps" and fighting over them?

Ever since LDON I have despised instances to the fullest. But then again I live and breathe competition.

The idea of PvE 'competition' is just silly. The only real comnpetition is who can kill what first, and that is still just as doable with instances.

yeah, except the sense of accomplishment is barely there if its not a world/server first, and the fucktardedness of instances it what brought us to every strat being out on the intarweb for easy access.

Although T2 fights are still cutting edge (lols), I will let out the top secret strat for this uber fight:

1. One person from your raid sits in a corner away from the raid clicking statues every few seconds. FAIL

2. He does an AE where, if you don't cure it by the time an AE "check" hits, it one-shot wipes the raid. Okay, I can live with that.

but sometimes it aligns perfectly and you get wtfpwned with no chance of survival. FAIL

3. The mob is capable at any time of putting together a double attack+crit and onerounding your tank with no chance of survival (this is true for the entire expansion). FAIL

4. at 60%, he puts an effect on the entire raid (cannot be cured), and it works like this: if you're above a certain power (mana) percentage, he does a mana tap that does a bunch of damage. If you're below a certain percentage, it summons epic adds that wipe the raid.

edit: oh, and he has a buff on him that procs a 5 sec fear 8% of the time on melee or spell attack, so you can't burn him that easily.

he also does a thing called mana sacrifice which drains 9% (I believe) and makes every spell you cast cost something like 220% more power.

It sounds really cool on paper, but between random tank spikes, occasional statueclicking retardation, and the ONE person that ends up fucking up on the power phase every time, I fucking loathe this fight. In its current state, it's going to be very, very hard for a lot of middle of the road guilds.

Well people were bitching that EQ2 was too easy and had no real raid progression (tears for 2+ years).

Id say this is just an answer to feedback, possibly a kneejerk.

It wouldnt surprise me if the lead designer said "EQ2 looks great, but I gotta have more wipes" every time he came by to check on RoK expansion status. Spontaneously wiping the raid = difficulty amirite?

What, a mob that requires all people in the raid to watch what they are doing or fuck everyone over? Not to mention it calls out who the retard is that fucks up. Honestly, this is probably the best encounter designed in ROK as far as full raid concentration and challenge (sans the 10 second statue shit). What is fun - Tank and Spank everything with jerking off to high dps numbers because thats lolsome?

A large portion of the raid content is "different" in ROK. Some mechanics used are clear mistakes (rooted mobs). Some are pretty awesome (events like Phara/Silverwing).

Any fight that has an LOLYOULOSE button on a non-combat detail sucks ass, period.

This is a fight that is fine for worldwide guilds like Second Dawn, but it's something that a lot of mid-range guilds are going to struggle mightily with. and for what? T3 is a joke, and the first 4 bosses in VP are a total joke. They're so much easier that it's ridiculous. The fight is retarded, period. I hated Magtheridon's cubes in WoW and I hate this too.
