| The problem with the mystery part and the fun all of us had solving quests is. it all gets put on the websites now. quest for the monk epic- way back when was awesome- we had a few hundred people collaborating trying to solve and find the disciples-and the quest line. fast forward to today's time- most/alot of quests are found and solved in beta- that info gets tossed to - insert website here- and posted the day the expansion is released.. no mystery, no drama. you want to solve the quest- goto -insert website- and there you go step by step instructions. |

And to their credit, the armor sets in Kunark seemed to be in from day 1. Conquest actually raided Karnors the first night of Kunark with 20 or so 50-53's. When we saw Cobalt Boots drop we drooled our asses off and bitched about warriors for 45 minutes. You just dont see open gameplay like that anymore. Now on Day 1 of an expansion, god forbid you try to get numbers to do something beyond your level. Not that the current MMO mechanics would even allow it... | |

+4 Internets | IIRC the Temple of Solusek Ro wasn't even in release, let alone a quest for it - it came months later. There were dozens of quests in Qeynos and Freeport and very few anywhere else, and some of those were class-specific. |

+11 Internets | Apples and oranges. Everquest had tons of quests at release, looking back on those quests after playing games inundated with quests like WoW/EQ2 they seem few and lackluster, but at the time they were pretty awesome and comparable to quests in PC single player RPGs. However, bring me a werewolf tooth and a gypsy lute and I'll give you a crafted breastplate is not much different in essence from WoW quests, mainly the format. To date though, no quest in WoW has been as immersing as EQs epics, prayer shawls, tradeskill earrings, GoD augmentation, etc. Then again, I guess that's the point. I wish the market would stop looking for WoW killers and go for more niche gaming. Edit - The Hole was added significantly after Temple of Sol Ro IIRC. I remember the Hole being added after Kunark release. |

+13 Internets | Len what you probably don't remember was that we NEVER would have figured out the monk epic if we hadn't been told by a very close friend of the developers from the test server exactly where to start. The beginning of that quest is so freaking obscure as to be completely ludicrous. And before anyone chimes in saying that's bull, there were like 6 of us in IRC at the time wracking our brains since monks had yet to even know where the initial questline for our epic was, and a regular told us where to go and who to talk to. From there it was relatively simple. If you really need further proof/convincing, the first person to actually start the quest and turn in the RotWF was a good guildmate friend of mine because nobody else wanted to believe us. That's an example of how poorly thought out aspects of the quests were. The epic was awesome...once you got past the fact that nobody with any brain would have ever found it left to their own devices. |

| Whoever said Monk epic was awesome should tell Raster that Yeah EQ original quests seem weak by today's standards, but it was awesome back in the day because there was a huge sense of mystery (really started the website mmo database movement) and because there was freedom in the world (kill any npc etc. and lose faction or gain faction) |

I frequently grouped with people that were in other guilds. I went LFG and whoever asked me i went with first. I didnt care what guild they were in.
