If you do it the other way around and lower honor point costs, the eploiters will have a larger chance to purchase and retain gear that they didn't bother working for. People may try to validate this direction as saying that it will get the AFK people out of the battlegrounds, but they will have exploited their way to what they wanted in the first place. Blizzard is taking a good first step in getting rid of AFK players before making any other changes. This type of exploitation needs to stop, and I hope that they carry forward with a fairly strict process of banning people. Even several high profile bannings can sometimes make people think twice about exploiting. If that doesn't work, continue rounds of bannings until they can curtail most of the problem, then retool the honor per hour. Giving lower honor points for gear is only going to make people feel as though AFK'ing is a great choice and urge more people to do it. By this idea, Blizzard will have to ban more accounts due to the idea of AFK'ing being the easy way to get gear over doing sweeping high profile bannings and then retooling after they see that the AFK rate is at an acceptable level. While it will cost some revenue at the beginning, there stands the possibility of people coming back to battlegrounds after they know that AFK'ing is less of a problem. | |

| I applaud Blizzard's efforts to punish AFKers, at the same time I say "It's about god damn time." There are a couple simple things Blizzard could implement to reduce the burden on GMs though. No exp or loot from mobs, and no honor if you have not been in PvP combat at any point in the battleground are two things I'd love to see put in. The latter takes care of the simple undetectable-by-warden botting. I've heard several reports of more sophisticated Glider or Glider-like botting though. Hopefully Blizzard is merely building up to a mass-banning. |
