Is LOTR "actually" a good game or is it another game that people can play as elves that is like wow but isn't wow?

People are so desperate to feed their mmo needs that they will try ANY game once.

I'm not dissing on WoW totally, it has good points, but it hasn't brought any good.

You just have some deep-seeded WoW hatred. In reality WoW has brought more good to the genre than any other MMOs, probably combined.

I'm not really sure I understand this comment at all. How does it have good points, yet it hasn't brought anything good to the genre?

And with warped logic you can pinpoint its failure on WoW. Without WoW, Brad wouldn't have had anything for Vanguard *not* to be.

I haven't kept up with LotRO, but this response surprises me. Is the game doing that well?

It's the most 'successful' MMO since the launch of WoW.

They have like 20 servers total in US and Europe and I think they even added at least one for one of the regions.

I'd say off the top of my head it has more subs now than either EQ or EQ2.

This clip seems to take a stab at VG not being polished and not retaining subs. VG could have indeed been the reason for WARs delay:

Not too shabby for a WoW clone.

It's naive to go into the genre without learning from the successes and failures that WoW has had over the years.

The next question comes from what sort of balance do you strike between emulation and evolution/innovation when it comes to MMO's post-WoW. Hopefully WAR chooses wisely, and creates a warhammer game, with the useability of WoW, rather than just a WAR-colored WoW.

I don't want another WoW; I want a new game that learned from WoW. Cuz there are some HUGE issues with WoW right now, and failure to learn from those issues is just guaranteed floundering in the MMO-gamespace.
