Also, can you guys name another game where the majority of the player base begged for a server that did not include one particular expansion because that expansion screwed the entire game up? I mean TOA was such a wrong direction Anyhow....it was fun in the beginning ![]()

| ToA sucked initially but down the road you could finish all your MLs and get all your artifacts activated in like a week. Hell, you could bot pretty much any encounter with an ML 9 pet and some buffage. |

| Making all that shit so easy was made ToA lame. They gimped it so retards could do it with ease. The only thing they had to do was up the drop rate on some of the necessary items and make it bug free. The difficulty was good as is.

| I played DAoC for the pvp, the pve sucked. Abidingly, ToA was pretty innovative and interesting the first time I did it, it fucking blew having to do every time I rerolled. Being able to get lvl 50, get all my artifacts, and get ml 10 in 2 weeks was a godsend. |

| No, it was still retarded because it was still a massive timesink. That kind of shit is fine in a PvE game, where it 'is' the endgame, but forcing people to go through such a long and boring grind just to be competative, on each of their fucking characters, was completely ridiculous. |

Are you saying 1-50 in DAOC wasnt a time sink suck fest just to be competitive? Did you really expect all forms of advancement to just be purely PVP?

Personally I think the game could have used a much faster levelling time (Modernagrav style PLing aside), but I say that with almost every MMO, I just don't enjoy levelling. You could put forward that ToA helps build the abilities for players to form groups, work as a team, work as a realm in large raids etc. which all translates over to RvR, but I think it was completely and ridiculously over the top as a time sink. ToA was a worse timesink than levelling, because levelling was something that you could do at a somewhat casual pace, sure it would take you longer but you'd get to 50 eventually just RvRing in the BG's and casually grinding or whatever between them. ToA you 'had' to sink huge amounts of time in large chunks for ML raids, you 'had' to deal with idiot raid leaders and bugged encounters, you 'had' to spend hours farming ridiculously low drop rate scrolls, you 'had' to have access to a farm char, a buffbot char and a load of plat. All in all, it was just a long, painful, frustrating experience that just served to further seperate players from the part of the game they really wanted to play. Levelling in the old days was bad in some respects, but to compound that by deciding to shove a massive raid based grind right between 'ding 50!' and 'wow RvR is fun!', when a huge portion of the playerbase have little interest in that kind of gameplay, was tantamount to suicidal for the game. People only put up with it as long as they did because there was nowhere else to go until WoW came along.

If WAR captures that early DAoC epic pvp feel then I will be happy.

But a lot of people had hope that WoW would give us some kind of decent PvP, as well the whole 'lol it's Blizzard and everyone else is playing' thing. By the time WoW came along, DAoC was so fucked up that people were looking for any chance to jump ship.
