As far as star wars timeline choices to place an MMO in mine would be:

1. KOTOR
2. Clone Wars
3. Way the fuck in the future Legacy stuff
.
.
.
100. Vong War

They could brand it Boiling Elephant Semen and it would provoke a more favorable response in the editorials and reviewer crowd than EA would.
because of the buy out, i probably won't be even considering buying this game.

i would rather drink boiling elephant semen than give electronic arts my money.

no, seriously.

You mean Shounen, as in "for (mostly retarded) teenagers": Naruto, DBZ, Bleach, etc.

Seinen would be the titles targeted at adults and these happen to have a higher chance to not be stupid. See: Monster, Zipang, The World Is Mine, etc.

Or maybe you meant "bad Seinen" as in "devolving into a Shounen" ?

Oh and about Star Wars? EA's marketing machine could be a blessing more than a curse, if they beleive in the project (read: in the potentential revenue of the project) enough to back it up properly that is.

I really could not stand KOTOR's combat system. Don't think I even got 30 minutes into the game when I had to stop playing.

Personally, I hope they don't try and imitate it - although I know a lot of people loved it.

Hopefully due to time constraints they cut out 40% of the game like with KOTOR2.

Outside of the Sims and their Sports Titles, what good has EA's 'marketing machine' done for their other titles?

I Guess we'll see what EA's 'light touch' can accomplish in the MMOG arena when WAR comes out. But I can't really imagine the gaming press, sites like this or word of mouth not mutilating even Bioware's austere, meticulously nurtured brand reputation simply because of EA's horrific management.

Maybe some of you guys are just too young or too fickle to remember EA's evisceration of Origin and Ultima and Chris Roberts.

Well, the former Executive Producer of SWG, Rich Vogel, is now the Vice President of Product Development at BioWare's Austin studio. They also have Gordon Walton, previously SOE Austin's studio manager, as their co-studio director (and was the one who gave the aforementioned speech at GDC).

These two hirings were pretty much where the "Star Wars BioWare MMOG" rumor got its start. Take that as you will though. It could just be that BioWare figured it'd be easier to deal with LucasArts if they had a few people familiar with them, and they'll just be working on the business side of things and have little to do with the actual creation of the game.

Jesus Christ, as long as dancing isn't a class or skill and the focus is on high adventure in an epic space opera, not making furniture or being a moisture famer. Luke was a farmer in the movies for 5 minutes and a jedi apprentice for 1h 56m for a reason.

I seriously doubt this will be just the Jedi and Sith types/arch types. That would be what 6 classes? Warrior type rog type and caster type. They are prolly gonna make it open ended skill tree based. If its just Jedi and Sith. I personaly would like to see that happen with racial abilities. To set you apart.

It'd be nice if this was verified, and not just speculation.

The biggest problem with SWG is Lucasarts was overtly involved. Here's to hoping they aren't involved at all with KOTOR.
