[EQ2] Game Update #39

HIGHLIGHTS

* The Fear Gate in the Feerrott has opened! The Shard of Fear, a fraction of the Plane of Fear, is now accessible by Norrathian mortals. Only seasoned adventurers traveling in groups should dare look upon this realm of terror and dread.
* Further sighting of mysterious visitors from Kunark have occurred in the waters near Freeport and Qeynos. See Admiral Marc Grenich in Qeynos Harbor and Livia Montellus in Freeport East to join in the investigations of these visitors.
* Guild banks have been extended with several new options. See the Guild Banks section below for details.

GAMEPLAY

* "The Tablets of the Blademaster" quest no longer requires that the player be in the Pillars of Flame zone to examine the spirit vessel.
* The Valley of the Magi instance off of the Commonlands should be functioning properly again.
* The Misty Mustang whistles should now summon pinto looking Misty Mustangs instead of Elddarian Chargers.
* The quest "A Portrait of Destiny " can no longer be shared.
* Vhalen's Tools can now be examined outside of the Acadechism for a quest update.
* Server Performance Improvements for dungeons and raid encounters.
* Usable Items that are not usable from inventory will always show darkened out while not equipped.

PETS

* Deity pets can now be used along with collection pets.
* Pets with random names will now persist that name through zoning.

TRADESKILLS

* Provisioners now have a recipe for prickly pear pie, and no longer have two different recipes for prickly pear cookies.
* Carpenters, inspired by the Night of the Dead, have begun researching new and sinister furniture items. A limited selection is now available with more development expected to yield further results in the future!
* Harvested items will now display the level of recipes they are used in.

ACHIEVEMENTS

* Mystic
o Weapon Mastery should now improve the dps, max health, attributes and crushing skill of the shaman pet.
* Fury
o Pact of Nature will scribe the spell for the player even if their inventory is full

SPELLS

* Clarified the Slaughter spell scrolls to be Assassin: Slaughter and Berserker: Slaughter to reduce confusion
* Instant cast non proc spells will now get a small bonus from +spell/heal/combat art mods
* Spells that summon multiple limited pets will display that information more concisely in the tooltip.

Inquisitor
o Contempt now uses ordination like the other spells in the line do.

HOUSING

* The obsolete option to "Relinquish" homes has been removed. It's no longer required since of the advent of automatic moving crates. To move your belongings, simply go to your new home and buy it. Your items will be moved into the new home automatically.

GUILD BANKS
Guild banks have been extended with several new options:

* Each guild bank tab can have its own name.
* There is a space on each guild bank tab for a comment.
* Each guild bank tab can now be set so withdrawing any quantity from a stack is considered as withdrawing one item for the purposes of the withdrawal limit.

BROKER:

* Two-handed weapons will no longer be returned in broker searches for "Primary" slot weapons.

UI

* When you run out of a charged item (* totem) the tooltip will no longer say "Charges: 5 / 5" it will instead say "Charges:0/5" to reduce confusion.
* There is a new UI window that will show only debuffs on your character:
* The UI window is called MainHUD.DetrimentalEffects
* The old effects window will now only show beneficial effects

Very nice update.

Looking forward to Shard of Fear.

eq2flames isn't responding for me, but there's a hilarious axe that drops in there called "Dawnfear, The Reaper". The flavortext talks about how it's from an amygdalan cult (blue oyster cult) and the proc translates from latin into "more cow bell" I believe.

Havnt been on in a long while (sorry Mistwalkers) because Orange box is too fucking awesome. I'm debating quiting, but waiting till RoK to see how omfgwtfbbq amazing it is.

Not even max level so I wont be traveling into the shard of fear anytime soon, but I must say breaking up the negative and positive buffs into 2 windows is FANTASTIC. Hopefully that clears alot of the clutter of having 30 flashing buttons on the screen not knowing wtf is going on.

Yes. Antonia Bayle (roleplaying) would be one of the better options in servers if you want a population.

I can easily get pick up groups any time day or night, and there are some pick up raids that happen every so often aswell.

Shard was pretty cool actually. It has that sense of EQ1 without the ZOMG owned upon zone in... Lot of x2 Named, pretty solid loot tables throughout. Amulet of Necropotence is +40 int -200health +100 spell damage and of course illusion skelly.

Couple that with all the PVP(Nagafen) trying to block the zone made for a good day off of raids ^_^

Yeah, Shard of Fear rocks. Could use a bit of tuning though, since it's a little easy in it's current state.

Pretty high on the nostalgic scale, though! Killing Dracoliche and seeing Amulet of Necropotence scores points

As for the guy starting out, Nagafen (PVP) is a good pick if PvP is your fancy.

Shard definitely has the nostalgia value going for it. but it's definitely way too easy.

and please, remove the negatives from the gear. I know it sounded like a good idea at the time, but it's really not. You're just guaranteeing that nobody uses the gear.

Best case scenario: they put it on par with Nizara and make the loot actually good.

Worst case scenario: they leave it like it is. and people run it 2-3 times this week for the few overpowered pieces. and then never run it again.

Just a side note, everytime you spam me twice an hour on the hour for the LoN tournaments on the weekends, I want to punch you in the fucking face. It's your game, it's your world, blah blah fucking blah, but you fucking GM's are ruining my roleplay experience with your goddamn endless spam about your fucking card game.

Edit: Paring this down to get the focus on the important message.

So where are the "real" screenshots? Or did I just miss them in the other thread?

Boloboy: I'm currently playing on AB (Tried out FFXI but it made my computer crash every 15m-30m so mehmeh). Post your character name once you make one and I can try to answer any questions you've got as you start.

I might have the occasional question as well, if you two don't mind. I'm playing on AB as a Brigand named Pietin. Played the trial for a few days and just signed up for a month today to see more of the world.

Good looking update. I won't be near SoF levels for some time, but look forward to it, as well as to a number of the new areas. Also, considering my preference for fluff, like the pet updates as well.

I'm in the same boat as Brogarn. I've been playing very casually lately, and appreciate the offer for info and such. Also been having a blast as a Dirge.

I'm a whore for content, though. My leveling is taking forever, and I just got into the secondary tradeskills, which are interesting.

If anyone has leads on a good guild in the game that allows for casual play with the possibility of raiding eventually, let me know. I'd be very interested. I figure this is not the setup of FoH or Mistwalkers, but if you guys are willing to take/include lower-level folk in-game, I'd join up.
