Steam is a great idea thats bogged down by the politics of retail stores. If Steam sold you digital games at half the cost, or pass on whatever savings from cutting out the distributors, EBStop would lose money. All EBStop has to do is tell Valve, hey fuckers, we're not going to stock any of your titles anymore because you're severely undercutting us and ruining our profits. Then Valve published games become inaccessible to a large portion of the casual market.
If Steam could DO what it was envisioned to, which was free small development companies from the shackles of publishing/distributing, it'd be great for us gamers. And on some extent, they are giving us some great titles at affordable prices and getting some small time developers the cash they deserve. Right now it's just a little bit half-assed.
In any case i'm getting tired of all of these proprietary community programs and I hope someone makes a Trillion for this shit so I stop getting multiple msg popups whenever i'm trying to game.
