| [WoW] PvE to PvP transfers are long overdue. Simply put, the state of the game has changed considerably since the initial character transfers were opened up. The focus is no longer on world PvP, and the places you level at now are all but ghost towns. The developers have finally nailed it down pretty solid, the game truly does start at level 70. So why is there a restriction on which realms you can travel to? To me, it doesn't make any sense at all, from a fairness perspective, from a financial perspective, from a game balance perspective. It just doesn't jive with the general feel and philosophy of the majority of WoW's design: accessibility, non-harmful/non-permanent decisions, having fun. How fair is it that of two complete newbies who randomly pick a server, one will be able to travel anywhere but the other will only be able to travel to certain servers simply due to what is usually a completely uninformed choice? How much money would Blizzard be making if they allowed PvE->PvP transfers? Why is it a bad thing if someone levels up on a PvE server and then transfers to a PvP server? Maybe then you'd see an increase of Horde players on PvE servers, even if only temporarily. I just can't figure these questions out for the life of me, and the fact that Blizzard has waited this long to open up PvE->PvP transfers really has me scratching my head -- WHAT'S THE HOLD UP? I don't think I'm alone here, either. I'm sure many of the top rated guilds here can tell stories of the apps-that-would had the guild only been on a PvP server. They'll probably tell you about wishing *they* were on a PvP server. What's funny is that the only PvE->PvP transfer that happened has been what many would call a huge success. It created a very competitive server environment for a very long time, it saved at least some of the guilds from a slow attrition based death on some somewhat backwater PvE servers. Why would you not want to repeat that decision? Why would Blizzard continue to ignore the obvious want of the option based on what can only be described as an archaic mindset? When, honestly, was the last time someone here got corpse camped? Not in a very long time, I'd wager. I guess I'd be happy if someone can answer any of these questions, but I'd suspect most cannot be. Blizzard just needs to catch the fuck on and open them up.

| But... but... all those poor defenseless PvP'ers will be slaughtered by the super-ultra-geared PvE people from the "easy" servers!

| I absolutly agree with this, i have a few 70s just rotting away on pve servers after i left my pve raiding guild to reroll on a pvp server, just got fed up with the shitty ghost town that the majority of horde pve servers are. Pretty laughable when people say leveling is harder on a pvp server, like fuck is it any more difficult at all, however its alot more enjoyable thats for sure. |

| Yeah I support this too. My old group of friends no longer plays and some of my new buddies play on a PvP server, id like to do arena with em but my 70 is on a PvE server and I have no desire to level a new dude to 70, easy as it may be. If they allowed PvE -> PvP id re-subscribe.

| Because not having them would have turned away a lot of their customers who didn't feel like getting ganked and corpsed camped by the legions of socially inept wankers like in previous games?

+1 Internets | Quote:
If anything they should have launched with PvE realms exclusively and enabled free transfers when PvP was actually implemented in a non-retarded manner. | |

| Removing the restriction would double the potential recruiting pool. People on PvP servers don't want to transfer into the inescapable ghettos, and people on PvE servers can't transfer to join guilds on PvP servers. |

| /sign - and it's only a matter of time before they do. As the OP said, this policy really doesn't mesh with the approach they normally take to things like this. I don't care about or am not looking for world PvP, I am interested in the "potential" for conflict and danger anywhere you go, out in the open. That adds an element of interest to gameplay that I am being deprived of. |
