Yeah, *maybe*.. for about 10 minutes until one of those saavy people said something and then everyone in the world knows.

It wouldn't suprise me if Blizzard is planning on merging entire battlegroups into 1-3 namespaces, the CPU capacity has certainly grown enough to do this. Given that no new servers have been released now for 10 months I would guess Blizzard does have something up its sleeves to solve most of the dead-servers-problem, but in typical fashion it is taking retardedly long. Just opening up the LFG tool and instances to x-server would solve 90% of the problems.

There are hints they do plan on supporting many more players per server in the expansion, like having 2 starting zones (instead of 1 like TBC), and even in the starting zones having more than 1 possible start point.

And who's going to care? If you're 70, you're not going to quit because of a merge.

If it was just those people that Blizzard was interested in saving face to then they would have done it already.

Public announcement is a bit different than unannounced change. I bet you a very sizable portion of the wow community doesn't even read forums or other source of online info. I'd bet you the kind of people who'd actually leave or care over merges would largely fall into this category.

Let me put it in plain English for you: They don't care as much about their image to people who are already playing... it's their image to everyone else that just happens to find out that 'WoW ninja-merged some servers' and if you don't think EVERYONE would find out then you are being naive.

Watching Makata struggle to maintain a coherent train of thought is pretty exhausting.

Vanguard should have gone with the ninja-merge, it would have worked great there, since all the "savvy" players didn't last a month.
