| DAoC's implementation of Darkness Falls was in fact awesome. However, I don't know that something like that would work in WoW because of WoW's tap system. In DAoC, huge zergs of people would run circles around the bottom floor of Darkness Falls clearing out all the "bosses." The difference is that experience and loot was split based on contribution, so everyone was getting something out of it, and there was a huge incentive for everyone to participate.
In WoW, the closest thing they have to this are the spirit towers in Terokkar. Control the towers, and you get spirit shard drops from all the bosses in Auchindoun, which are used to buy items. The trouble is, most of the items are crap, so no one cares. If the items were better and the spirit shards were BOE, or the money drops in Auchindoun were tripled (etc.) then more people would actually care. |
