| AoC had a great launch, they staggered the release with CE - PO - Release. The CE release was down for a little, but the game was live right when they said it would be. No server lag or instabilities. ~edit now that i think of it, they did take the servers down for a while when the CE was released, didn't they lie about when the servers were coming back online? It was a while ago.. Last edited by Toxxulian; 02-26-2009 at 11:43 AM.. |

+6 Internets | AoC had the smoothest launch of any MMO I've tried (although I didn't do LOTRO). There was like 30 minutes of bad latency on night 1 of preorder and one zone that trapped people for 12 hours on like day 3. Some people complained about post-launch hardware issues in the forums, but considering not one person in our 120 member launch guild had them, I always assumed they had outdated hardware/drivers. Other than that, the launch itself was pretty much flawless. Now the game turned out to be a piece of trash above level 40, but that doesn't mean the launch was bad. Age of Conan for example had a pretty awesome start for a MMO. As Darkfall is compared to Age of Conan here and only complain about "server being down" - it sounds like an awesome start as far as MMOs go.

When the billing system itself seems like an afterthought, the primary way to order the game isn't functional, and then the game isn't even live on launch day - that to me, is pretty bad. As for actual performance of the game, it's hard to judge launch day performance when it isn't even live.

| Surprised they got no DDOS attacks on launch, guess saying the game is too popular is better for the sales. Apparently there is a huge synchro problem that makes the game unplayable for most players that managed to get past pre order / patcher. Clearly not a good launch. And yeah AoC launch was pretty smooth, but the game sucked (not as much as darkfail of course), i fail to see the comparaison btw both. Last edited by Bobleclair; 02-26-2009 at 03:43 PM.. |

| Is there a way to purchase the game now or are we forced to wait it out until they fix all the problems on their end? I finally finished downloading the game, took just under a day so I recommend if you plan on trying it out to start the download sooner rather than later.

I'm dying to try DF but happy now that I did not make the pre-order cut. I'd rather play the game when everything has stabilized a bit.

That is the correct download link. Expect it to take about a day to finish.

This is the same story for every MMO since Everquest... the one exception was WoW and surprise it was the most successful...
