Why can't Microsoft have bought them instead? Or even ubisoft. That's pretty telling, most folks would rather have the borg of Microsoft take over a company than fucking EA.

On the plus side, all of their good talent will leave within the next year or so, and we might see some nice small companies spring up and do something innovative. Like mushrooms after a rain.

Well this still has to pass by the SEC. It should just be formality, but there are some pretty shady things to this whole agreement, particularly the part about EA CEO creating the corp that joined up Bioware and Pandemic then going back to EA and buying both those brands for 860million.

I mean ppl were laughing when Microsoft bought Rare for 400million, saying they were over paying. This is more than twice what Microsoft payed for Rare, so my instinct tells me there is something pretty fishy going on.

Something interesting to note.

Microsoft has the Exclusive publshing deal for Mass Effect, however there is no word on the other 2 games in the trilogy. It will be interesting to see how EA will handle this, since they will not be able to release Mass Effect 1 on other consoles but be able to release 2 and 3 multiplat. However since this game was planned as a 3 part series how would players from other consoles continue the story if they can't play the first. I am not certain if the characters you play in Mass Effect get ported over to the sequels once released, but if so it could change the entire dynamic of he series.

Would that necessarily be bad? I mean, minus the Madden part. A football MMO would probably own, its perfect... it has stats, character(s) progression, strategies...
