+5 Internets | I hope that if they do it they take player count into consideration. I notice that, as usual, they have a fucking Second Life screencap there as if that's the end-all be-all in MMO economics. Stupid considering how WoW basically single-handedly turned MMO money into a real currency. Also, I've been against real-world trading for in-game items pretty much since Everquest stuff started going on ebay, and especially when dual-boxing became huge, it's pretty much what made me stop playing EQ when I'd try to join a guild and they'd tell me to go buy a second account. If it's gonna be that fucking fake, why even play? I play for the experiences in actually you know, getting stuff with friends, not just buying my fucking way to the top (and I know I'm not alone, that much is evident from the old school EQ event going on here). And I can't just ignore it if the games I play are going to allow me to/make me compete with players that have that ability. Even worse is the fact that Blizzard basically endorses it, whether or not they act like it. Farmers made me quit EQ and WoW, and since then I just haven't been interested in an MMO. It's to the point where I'd see an MMO boast "no trading between players" and consider it a valuable feature (in fact, I was actually writing up a concept for an MMO for that "wishlist" thread a while back encompassing an idea where players could trade but it was in more of a nomadic fashion where goods and services were dynamic and sometimes "immaterial" (i.e. buying information), and thusly would have no value to anyone not playing the game at that given moment). |

| Kodylan: ehh my bad on that one - pretty substantial error. Truthfully, I am just wondering what a project like this could mean for the gaming world if it were infact successful.

| Well since most game companies prohibit this activity, they aren't going to share any data with this project. So they expect the RMT companies to share their data with this project? I doubt they do, especially the big ones like IGE. They already know what worlds make more money than others and have no need of this service. As has been said before, if you can't tell a good MMO from a bad one you shouldn't be in the business in the first place. It sounds like a money grab for funding from people that are clueless about MMOs by making it sound like it's something important and has potential, when it doesn't. |

| It makes everyone feel better if we just blame all the world's problems on WoW. Nevermind the fact I made thousands of RL dollars selling plat in EQ before I ever heard WoW was in production.
