| With the same shit different name expansion for WoW and recent developments with War I have been thinking the same exact thing Diatribe. Speaking for myself Kunark could not possibly come out at a more perfect time. |

| I'd have posted that shot if I got it. Previews are overdone and a complete utter waste of people's time. Full of nothing, they are excellent at sugar coating shit with doctored up screens and unleashing a hype train. That screenshot tells it like it is. Nothing more/less. Props to whoever wrote that article at IGN. |

I'm so fucking glad EQ2 doesn't even remotely look like that garbage, hell at launch I could use way better settings than those. Sure the settings and areas have their moments of "meh", but also their moments of greatness, you know, just like any other game. No one even remotely sane would publish promotional screenshots of a game in less than uber quality, no matter the game, who posted that is totally stupid or retarded or just wanted to do bad publicity, in any case should go look for another job, possibly in another field where he can enlarge his (in)competence to further levels.

+3 Internets | What the hell graphic settings was the IGN person using? My buddy is playing EQ2 on a 2 year old non-gaming laptop and runs it on 'Balanced" and it looks pretty damn slick and he only has frame rate issues if he lingers in Neriak too long (*cough* fix the zone *cough*) I have a machine I built this summer on the lowside of high end that I can reasonably play EQ2 with using very high settings (avoiding Neriak). IGN reviewed BioShock with every bell and whistle turned to max so they can't argue that they only review games based on the lowest common denominator of reader machine specs. They even gave special props to the DirectX 10-enabled effects so we're talking a core2 duo + 6800-era video card and a few gigs of RAM easy. So unless the Beta client is drastically different from the current LIVE version that guy was intentionally dialing down his resolution and every possible graphic tweak because he has an axe to grind. Note : I even moved my settings to 'max performance' to see if a framerate snob might prefer some sort of mega-smooth high framerate EQ2 experience. I found the framerate wasnt noticably better yet the graphical appearance was just lousy. |

Think about Scott's reaction when he saw the screenshot and ask yourself if he had any intention on giving IGN another opportunity to get l33t beta infoz [ever] again.

Seriously, you must have not been paying attention when I stated in another thread that lazy zone design, overuse of textures/mobs and making raid zones look just like an open dungeon are driving people away. It was completely retarded that 3 of the Kingdom of Sky raid instances looked just like an open non-instanced, non-raid dungeon. It would be like making a high end raid zone in TBC looking just like Hellfire Citadel. WoW players would have a problem with that.

+40 Internets | That shot isn't even close to being the worst. There was a whole series taken in the lowest possible graphic setting, including some hilariously blurry close up shots of non-bumpmapped low res mobs. I wish I'd saved some for the thread ;p You can tell by looking at the Spirocs that the texture setting is on low and all shader effects are off. Turning it down that low doesn't even make a difference unless you are using some seriously old hardware with a pissant amount of memory and no shader support. I was laughing the whole time because I knew someone was about to get his ass chewed. Gallenite's reaction was about what I expected, heh. |

+21 Internets | Doesn't look like it to me. Basic human body with different feet/head and a tail added. You can tell by the stance and the way it's swinging the weapon that it's the basic combat animation. Maybe it's just an early model. |
