It's a drake not a dragon, and it looks exactly the same as the other meat dragons in Deathtoll.

Yeah this is what I was talking about in the other thread. Putting together a raid to kill a drake thats the exact same model as drakes in Lavastorm and the entire KoS expansion, just a little bigger, is disappointing.

I'm not asking for every mob to be a unique model, but holy crap a brand new raid zone and the 2nd biggest boss is the 300,000th Drakota?

Couldn't they take the drakota model and artistically overlap the decaying flesh so that it at least looks like like it's not one big blog of the same thing? I guess if they have too many textures loading in that area, this method works for them, but it can't be hard to do tweaks to the existing drakota texture.

Avatar of Innoruuk != Innoruuk.

In EQ1, the Avatars often were visual copies of their gods (Avatar of Fear, Avatar of War before RZ got revamped in PoP), but in EQ2, the Avatars are clearly defined as pious members of mortal races picked by their gods to be their avatars.

Not saying that Avatar of Fear doesn't look awful (it really does), nor can I even tell what the fleck it's supposed to be, but sticking with the lore they've established, the avatars should look more like mortal races than gods.

It's called nostalgia. And with EQ, it's pretty powerful.

Which is why it's sad that it isn't being used to the extent that it could be with this game (although I will give them a nod for the Kunark expansion coming up. Should've been the first expansion.)

The question was simple("Will we ever see EQ1 gods or their planes?") and so was the answer. There was no soft language like "we don't plan to right now" or "we're not sure".

Not trying to diss SOE but what I quoted from your post is total bullshit and you were in the room at the summit that they flew us to when I asked. Call that unofficial if you like.

Either way I'm glad they finally changed their minds, I just wish it had been while I was still playing.

Hence the intentional inclusion of the word "officially". I actually added that in because I couldn't specifically remember any mention of the subject in the '05 Summit.

I know I was there, but I'll be honest, I can't recall exactly what was said in the room in nearly 2 1/2 years ago. If it didn't make my notes from that day (and no references to gods or planes did), then I can't tell you what was said or by whom. I'm sure I'm as human as the next guy, which means that even if I could recall a discussion on that subject, I'd be flavoring it through a heavy fog of memory and likely to screw up the quote.

So I can't deny or confirm either way, and really I'm not trying to. All I can say is that they've never officially stated "never", which is what I presume Zulljin was working from - since I'm pretty sure he wasn't in the room that day.

P.S. - To be fair, I don't consider 90% of what goes on in a Summit to be "official". At least half of what's discussed in those Summits never goes live, and I viewed the first few Summits as developer/player brainstorming sessions. We griped, they listened, they answered - mostly "off the record".

Some things made it into the game rather quickly. Other ideas fell right to the floor apparantly, even some ideas generally taken to be universally liked and well thought of.

I'm glad it wasn't. I'm glad they took a few years to figure out a few things before touching Kunark.

I am actually glad the way EQ2 turned out now. I am an oldschool SZ person and i would have never touched that mess again hadn't they introduced pvp and changed their nostalgia policy.

The stuff they are currently pumping out since EOF was pretty damn awsome to be quite honest and they seem to get their shit together slowly when it comes to pvp balance.

Now if they just started to remove some of the more useless skills and i would be a really really happy camper!

Rofl...did you really just say that?

anyways...

I don't think everything is done being textured yet, they've done things like that in the past when they weren't sure about the final model or texture yet, or just threw in a place holder till they decided. Once the final version is released I think we'll see that their textures will be different.

Or so I hope anyways.

Summits are an official excuse to get piss drunk. Same thing happened at the first SWG Summit. The most interesting thing I took out of that was this one guy who started talking solely in German at about 1am on the last day.
