+109 Internets | One of the big reasons I stopped playing EQ2 is cause I was told point blank at a summit that there would never be any of the original planes or gods. I feel duped!

+20 Internets | They also said they would never bring the gods back, or have PVP, yet they did both. =P Just sayin, when you want to attract more people and your current methods are not working, you rethink your previous points. |

![]() Really hoping that dragon is supposed to be a statue, otherwise... I'm not sure I can defend EQII anymore. I just feel like they have this opportunity to make shit so badass and evil looking with newer technology and have lazy/incompetent artists. That AoF even has the human "slouch" that normal models too. I really feel like it's just a stretched out human or something with a new face/textures. The trees look pretty cool. I don't mind them reusing textures that much because we're talking about expansions every 1-2 years here. The resusing of shit is way worse in WoW to me, where every field, house, inn, mountain, etc feels like the rest Last edited by Ham n Cheese; 10-04-2007 at 03:30 AM.. | |

| TBH the whole zone looks pretty horrible to me not just the dragon. I havenīt played EQ1 so it doesn't get any bonus points from me for reminding me of those days. I have played EQ2 though and that zone just looks pretty much as copy/paste as you can get. There seem to couple new elements but mostly it just looks like parts of Antonica with new red textures/sky and couple temples from Feerrott(sp?) thrown in the mix. This is a real pity too as I thought the EoF zones pretty much all were very nice looking as was Neriak but this zone looks like a major step backwards in terms of graphics to me. |

| That dragon is obviously not even fucking skinned yet. It's horns/eyes/teeth/skin are the same fucking color. Am I the only one who picked up on this or are the rest of you so eager to spew EQ2 hate that you're dumb enough to call an unskinned NPC 'awful graphics'. I HIGHLY doubt that's going to be the finished product. Wake the fuck up. |

They did say there would be no PVP at release, but even in 2003/04, Moorgard was asking for feedback on EQII.com about eventual PVP systems players would want to see. As far as the Gods, the developers have always been cryptic, and at least a few times indicated that the Gods would never return as they did in old Everquest, but that the Gods were very much involved in the storyline of Everquest II (as evidenced in every other starting priest quest at release, as well as the opening story scenes). As far as "the Planes", those have been seeping back into the world every since November '05 when Desert of Flames released. They flat out state that the floating Poet's Palace/Shimmering Citadel you can see in the sky is a part of the old Plane of Sky that made it's way into our world. It's basically an update to the old fourth isle from old Everquest. I'd admit, I was as surprised as anyone to hear about some of the ideas that are coming for Shard of Fear and Shard of Hate...but if they had to change their mind to bring these ideas back, so much the better.

+71 Internets | Thats not a dragon FYI. (again) I doubt its 'not skinned yet' though. It wouldn't be in a screenshot. It would have been more interesting if the original Pantheon was all dead and other notable characters from EQ1 replaced them. LLanys T'vyl, Firionia Vie, Furor, etc. Oh well. |

The question was simple("Will we ever see EQ1 gods or their planes?") and so was the answer. There was no soft language like "we don't plan to right now" or "we're not sure". Not trying to diss SOE but what I quoted from your post is total bullshit and you were in the room at the summit that they flew us to when I asked. Call that unofficial if you like. Either way I'm glad they finally changed their minds, I just wish it had been while I was still playing. ![]()
