If you think that's bad, try being a rogue with a pair of daggers and a bunch of haste effects. Melee never sounded so absurd.

However, the really hilarious bit is the bosses playing their pain sound every time someone hits them. It creates this hilarious cacaphony that sounds like something out of the Adams Family.

The mod prevented the error messages from displaying, not sure if that option was around during the time in question though.

VoIP has been activated on some servers. It's not good.

In fact, I dare say it's downright 'bad'. Maybe my guild is a bunch of lazy eyed faggots, but the closest we could get it to working were a couple of pranksters claiming they had heard each other ("VERY SOFTLY") in some secret channel they were in that no one else was. The rest of us could have had our headphones up our ass for the amount of good it was doing.

I'm not convinced Blizzard knows what they're doing in regards to voice chat. Or sound for that matter, I guess, but I'm playing on a laptop with integrated sound, so my shit sounds roughly the same as it ever has. Add in the fact that you have to go in and manually set the channels you wish to be 'voice activated' in, and you have what we in the bidness call a GIANT PAIN IN THE DICK. I can't imagine getting an entire PUG into the same channel and being 'voice activated' any easier than getting them all to download vent and log the fuck on a non-gay VoIP client. In fact, I imagine it being many times harder, and much worse for the wear on any serious player's asshole.

How To Fully Uninstall Creative Vista Drivers & Solve Install Problems « No More Goat Soup

There are also new Vista beta drivers for the Xi-Fi that were released today. I can't seem to get their download page to work, it seems hammered or something.

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Vista Driver 2.15.0003 (1 Oct 07) - Windows Vista - Creative Labs has a thread about it.

It almost seems like a joke with all the unsupported stuff they have listed.

Edit:

Here is a direct link for the drivers

main driver http://ccftp.creative.com/manualdn/D..._2_15_0003.exe

Alchemy for better EAX support

They had to, because when they tried to implement VoIP into WoW it broke the old sound system.

So instead of taking the hint, releasing 2.2 on time and being done with it, they scrapped the old sound system, wrote a new (worse) one, delayed 2.2 for fucking forever, and we get shitty VoIP now!

Somehow, my voice chat became enabled in TF2. Oh, my, God. I wasn't even able to wait until I died, I just hit up options right out in the open.

On the very first night VC was enabled, it worked great for us, and we were all saying how much better it was than people on the PTR had said and that we would just go ahead and use it.

Since then, it just makes a WOOOOHHHMM noise when we try to use it so it back to vent and fuck it.

The voice chat...

...sounds like you're fucking a robot.
...is very quiet, even jacked up to 250%
...does weird shit to the game sound.

Did they test this for cases when people are actually chatting, to have that obnoxious "fade the sound out so you can hear low-fi digi speech?"

To be fair, hooray for them catering to everyone who can't afford vent. Let's wait for the events that require us to whistle in pitch to sylvanas' song or some shit.

...bated breath for the audio capture of people raping voip in pugs.

Vent and TS hosts have nothing to worry about here.

I felt bad for those folks too, until I read your post and realized that someone is already feeling bad for them and I can now switch to hating them.

Thanks.

Not to mention our server was horribly lagged and constantly crashing all day yesterday after they implimented it. Though I'm sure that had absolutely nothing to do with it.

I have not witnessed any sound problems, but I use on board sound since I always run my computer through headphones.

I'm seriously thinking of switching to on board audio for now. WoW has run like shit for me since the 2.2 patch. Tons of audio hitching and occasional problems loading zones. I just got stuck at the zeppelin travel splash screen for 10 minutes. All I would see is the dotted line occasionaly go back an forth between the continents.

I'm running an Audigy 2 ZS which is admittedly a tad dated but it certainly shouldn't be causing the problems I've been experiencing. My last resort will be trying the reg tweak posted on the tech forums but shit like that really shouldn't be necessary for a game that has been out as long as WoW.
