You can't do any without a flying mount and you can't do the netherwings until you get epic flying.

Once you get flying there is an npc by the fp in shatt that will get you started.. and for ogrila you need to do all the group quests in the gronn chain.

I've contemplated coming back several times, but I'm still not 100% sure yet. My priest is level 62 (I stopped playing seriously right after TBC release), but I'd almost want to level my 42 druid instead because I have a lot more fun playing her than my priest.

Couple questions -

Is the game still decently fun for someone who plays at a casual rate? Meaning, login for an hour a night, or an hour every couple of nights and maybe a few hours in the weekends?

Are the arenas actually FUN to do, and how hard is it to find a team to join? Can you just play by yourself and have it match you up with others or is that completely not how it works?

Is just pvping for upgrades a viable option at a casual rate? I don't really have the option for joining groups and running instances that take hours, I like to casually quest/level and PvP on my own time.

How are druids nowadays in PvP? Is the most popular spec feral or resto?

Are the old school BGs (AV, WSG, AB) still popular and viable for getting honor and upgrades? Or is everyone in arenas making the BG queue times atrocious?

Thanks!

This question is unanswerable. Yes you will always have stuff to do, only you can really say if it's fun.

I enjoy arenas, but at the play level you suggested earlier then answer is definately no, it won't be fun. It will be pretty difficult to find a team willing to match your schedule if your hours are so few and you'll spend most of your time being frustrated.

Actually as a Druid or Priest you'll probably be able to manage a 2's or 3's team but expect for it to not be fun for awhile as you get the neccesary gear and learn to play.

You can PvP for PvP upgrades all day long, they won't help you that much for PvE but it sounds like your play schedule won't allow for much PvE that actually would force a gear requirement.

Druids are fantastic and probably will still continue to be good even after the nerf they received this patch. Resto is by far the most popular spec.

Most BG queue times are less than a minute, they remain the best way to get honor, but there is only so much you can enjoy running the same crap over and over again with the largely idiotic population that you'll find in BGs.

Yes the game still can be fun even for a casual player. With the time frame you are giving, tho, doubt pvp for equipment would be worth your while since it would take too long. You are better off just solo or team questing while in a pve instance queue as you level. Actually, thinking about your time limit, you might want to play LOTRO instead lol.

Cuppy, I play 3 days a week for 3-5 hours on those days with random other days sprinkled around. I have fun for the most part when I am playing.

I am able to raid on most of the guild raid days and on off days, I am able to do dailies, farm or whatever. The fun part is really who you are playing with. If you play with a bunch of fun loving players who are playig cause they enjoy the game and the company, the game will be fun. If you play with a bunch of people that treat the game as a job, you wil burn out fast.

I definately play with good people.

I quitted before TBC release and came back about 3 months ago, so for me everything was new. I think TBC is just fun, a lot more fun than vanilla, albeit with less atmosphere as some zones really suck a rotten donkey balls (Auchindon, I'm looking at you!). Imo it has a lot more to offer to a casual player like me, many things to work on and at my snail pace I'll be busy till WotLK at least. I have an advantage since I'm in a fixed group, so for us running dungeons is a 10 seconds decision and 2-5 minutes trip to the entrance. A tipical run is less than 1 hour, more if the place is new for us. I suspect it'll take a bit longer for heroics, at least the first few times.

You can solo, group, pvp, farm reps, badges, etc to work on all the aspects of the game and gearing up in the process. Oh and flying mounts are awesome. Gold is abundant as it can be; I was 70 with still all the quests from Nagrand, Shadowmoon Valley, Netherstorm and Blade's Edge Mountain to do, which means I make a ton of money with a little effort here and there. Yesterday profit was 275g for 4 hours of playing, including 2 instances, this week's total is about 1300g earned.

As a casual player with 3 evenings at 3-4 hours and a dozen hours during the weekend, I couldn't be more happy. I'm not covered in purples yet, but I don't really care as long as I'm having fun (even a carebear like me managed to get 1 piece of pvp gear omg!).

Thing is she is talking about playing an hour here or there during the week and maybe a few hours on a weekend. I honestly don't see it worthwhile at that schedule.

Why not? Log in for an hour and knock out a few quests and burn some rest exp and on the weekends try to do an instance or 2. Sounds worthwhile to me, especially if you just want to have fun and not worry about being 70 with Professor Plums in every slot.

Eh, would basically be a solo experience for her since not enough time to even set up an instance group unless you have set friends that will play at exactly the same time. And I don't think that is the case for her. I really do think LOTRO would be better for her.

And so what if it is mostly a solo experience? Like Twobit already said, if the goal is to log in, goof off for a while, and feel like you made some progress, then an hour or two on the weekdays and maybe a 3-4 hour gig on the weekend would be plenty of playtime.

I mostly solo, and I have a lot of fun playing WoW. Seems worthwhile to me, considering I pay the subscription fee to have fun.

Except if you actually care about gearing up your character at all, it's going to be painful as hell doing it solo.

Again, this goes to the whole "what do you consider worthwhile" discussion.

Not saying "A" person can't find it "worthwhile." I am simply responding to Cuppy's asking for advice. And in my opinion it may not be "worthwhile" for her. In my opinion she probably would find more entertainment elsewhere given her parameters. And you extended her time play. She is saying maybe 1 hour a day a few days a week plus maybe a few hours on a weekend. Now if you want to put a few 3-4 hour playtime slots, then yeah, WOW works fine, but that wasn't what Cuppy was committing to.

Cuppy I have the same schedule as you. I work and go to school so I have nearly no free time anymore. Plus on the weekends I'm out of town with not access to WoW. So the most time I get is 1-2 hours 4 days a week. I haven't found anyone to arena with on that kind of schedule which kind of sucks. I've been considering dual boxing 2v2 but I don't know if it would be fun or just work trying to dual box. Plus I don't know what the best combination of dual boxing characters I should use.

I'm in some lame starter guild thats really worthless and any decent raiding guild isn't going to like my schedule. Also I tired the PvPing for gear and it is painfully slow. Sorry Most of the time I find the fun in just the leveling. I suppose thats why I only have the shaman left to lvl up hehehe. Oh well. It is what it is. Besides I hate grinding stuff anyway. I can;t stand grinding the same set of anything in any fashion. I think I just love the chaos that is random things.

I see now. You're one of those people that looks for reasons to be offended. It must be frustrating to go through life like that.

Warrior/Druid is the best 2v2. It's not a bad PvE combo either, as DPS are usually easy to find for a group (literally less then 5min) so you could run any regular instance.
