Read what he said, he plans on playing 2-3 hours a week, casually, with his wife. This means he will probably get 60 in 7-8 days played, and 70 in 12-15. That means over 5 years at his expected playtime. I don't know why anyone mentioned battlegrounds or arenas or heroics.

If I was in your situation and I had 2-3 hours of freetime I wanted to kill a week, I would not spend it on WoW. Gamecube or Wii, fixing extravagant meals, watching a movie, whatever, not WoW. However, I don't know why I'm explaining this to you, since I don't understand the premise of your question.

What, given the conditions that you're playing with, would make your playtime any different "at this point in the game"? WoW has always been solo/duo friendly, and there's even a few more quests from 1-60 than there was when your subscription cancelled, so I don't understand your question at all.

How do you start over at this point in the game? I'm going to guess you install the cd's and create a new character and go start playing, don't think they patched to change that yet.

edit: I see your point now, you want to know if someone who's never played anything like WoW could like it, and obviously they could as WoW has 10 million people playing it, but why not just resubscribe and figure it out by... having her play it for a week? Then, you would know!!!

If you are worried about her longevity in the game, or ability to pick it up.. just download the free trial for her and let her play it. It's 10 days iirc, so that's plenty of time to get 2-3 sessions in. Sit with her, play it and explain it to her and see if she can hack it. If not, you save yourself the box price..

It's because we all know that it will be 7-10 hours a week if they're enjoying it.

If you dont mind the monthly fee WoW is a good game for what you want to accomplish imo. Solo/Duo play is very viable if you look at the qesting game, nothing has changed there from the launch and its even more viable in the expansion in terms of rewards for the effort.

Most important I would think would be to chose race and classes you and the missus find appealing but try and chose one with a fun starting ground. Bloodelves have a pretty decent starting area imo.

If this is the case, why would you want to pay $15 a month if you aren't going to play it? I quit WoW and right now I am playing my DS and going through all the Kingdom Hearts again. This is perfect for me because I only play games 2-3 times a week for an hour here and there.

It's your money, but I can't see paying for something you aren't going to use personally.

If you do decide to play, create either a blood elf or draenei. Their starting zones are really good. That only lasts you till 20, though.

My wife and I decided to roll up some blood elves recently and it really struck me how well done the starter zone and Ghostlands are. Even for people who play in 1 hour sessions or can only do 2-4 hours a week, you can always accomplish something worthwhile (couple quests, etc) in that amount of time.

The whole leveling process has been realy well done in WoW, especially at lower levels. Don't just grind, do quests, and go through all the instances you can. ShadowFang Keep remains one of my favourite dungeons.

15$ for ~10-15hs of entertainment isn't exactly much. Considering your average console game takes 20ish hours to complete these days, even playing that casual its going to be cheaper.

Without knowing your gf I can't really say if wow would be her kind of thing, but trying out the free trial never hurts. Most of the nay sayers here seem to have lost touch with what a casual gamer wants out of wow completly. I don't know about you, but I really enjoyed leveling from 1-60 first two times I did it. Leveling guides? WTH, you're pretty much screwing yourself out of the best part of any mmorpg, exploration. Powergaming through the content is the last thing a casual gamer should be doing.

i just leveled from 0-64. the time between level 20 (when you leave ghostlands) and 58 (when you reach outland) is total shit. total. shit.

quest rewards are unusable, experience from quests is god awful, and the whole process is just garbage.

there might be a few fun "lol sfk lezgo!" moments but the actual process of getting from 1-60ish is a battle of attrition.

That's not exactly suprising, you've done it all before. Going through the solo content more than once is always going to be boring, doesn't mean that it suck. The whole exploration portion of the equation is gone. I'm half way through the 60-70 grind with a second character with gathering proffessions atm and its boring as hell. Is that because the outland content sucks? No, but its old and I've seen it all. A lot of quest rewards might be trash in the original game, but it certanly didn't stop me from enjoying the game.

Zeste,

until wow my wife's computer game experience....Zoo Tycoon.

then she tried wow.."just to help in case something goes wrong with the son playing(who is just learning to read-son that is)

the first play session with me explaining what to do...

4 hours

the 2nd play session the next night....4hrs

the 3rd play session...the next night...i said fuck it and got a new account setup since by then i KNEW she was going to keep playing.

ease her into it- if you decide to redo wow. Definately make blood elf or draenai, those starting zones are better than any of the others. as to what classes to choose, well my wife loves animals(she is a veterinarian) so i went with the easiest class to play in wow- Hunter.

oh yes, she collects noncombat pets too....

saying it doesnt suck because you dont know any better doesnt mean it doesnt suck. hah

additionally you are agreeing that the game from 0-70 is basically only fun once, which is whack imo

It doesn't 'suck', it just gets old when you do it 3 or 4 times.. which is like pretty much everything else.

It's also fun more than once if you roll the opposite faction or start a race that has a totally different progression path.
