+11 Internets | Crushbone is saturated with tanks and scouts (besides bards), I'd stay away from those if you plan on playing much at 70. Might be different on other servers. Dirges seem to be highest desired classes by guilds, still. |

Grouping tanks are rare. Whether I'm looking for a group with my mid-40s Warlock or my 70 Warden, finding a tank is not an easy task. With the 24 person raid limit in EQ2 you don't really need all that many tanks, it shows when you try and do group content. Brigands, Dirges (though I seem to know quite a few), Mystics/Defilers (again, I know a few but guilds either have a lot or none at all it seems) and Inquisitors are pretty rare as far as I can see. Brigands specifically, if you want to raid and be cherished, that is the class for you on AB.

Outside of raiding shadowknights are fine. It's just that raids only have room for a few tanks and most of the time one of the slots goes to a guardian.

| I have known a few SKs that have gone the "battlemage" way with their spec/int gear. I have no idea how effective that is in raiding but for grouping it was pretty cool. This was pre-EoF though I have no clue what has happened with AAs since. I quit before EoF came out. My main was a Brigand though and I loved that class. I am tempted to come back to get back into raiding though (just quit WoW, yay) but I have no idea what the raiding scene looks like on AB. Last edited by Lost Ranger; 10-04-2007 at 04:03 PM.. |

| We actually use an SK for main tank on raids, with an illusionist and dirge in the MT group and we have no issues what-so-ever.

| So besides the Fae does EoF offer much in the way of solo/group content for 55+ players? I got some friends that might be coming back with me so some mentoring may be needed. I was not a fan of DoF so if I can avoid that place I will be very happy heh. |

+1 Internets | You will quickly deplete all solo quest lines if you don't do heavy amounts of grouping. I was fucking pissed when I found out I had 5 2 step questlines to take me through the mid and upper 50s in LFay. As a rule, all EoF instances demand a full group if you're at level. Fortunately you can always just hit up old world content such as SE, Permafrost well into the late 50s for decent experience. Perma is particularly good if you have a dps heavy group and do the statue quests, and has bonus points for a good group is that you can wipe out the epic 2x in there. Plus the legendary loot in those zones is excellent. Masters don't drop in there aside from trash, which fucking blows, but it's almost forgivable. Graham also doesn't mention Tunaria, which is an excellent zone that starts at 55. The first portion is a solo/duo area, although I don't know of any quests or named there. It sucks that EoF is really becoming shaky with questlines after Steamfont, which was really the zenith of questing in an mmo for me so far. Lfay is well constructed for having only one real hub, but 2 step quest arcs can get fucked and so can having multiple quests require you to kill the same mobs. What's the point of even having a character give you a quest if you can't develop it at all? I completely don't give a shit about every npc except for the monk master. Edit for Mal: Odd play time and desire to be evil = Necromancer/Coercer. Necros are a one way ticket to being able to do almost all content 1-69 solo, if you're patient enough to learn roamers in dungeons and to out level bosses. Once you get Tainted Heals you can solo almost anything with proper planning, and it's a fun class to play that is immensely rewarding when pushed to its limits. Overpowered? Yes. Easy mode? Yes. Fun? Absolutely. Do all EoF leveling zones, after Darklight, first and then solo classic dungeons. You will rack in loot, cash and see everything you want. Plus you are kick ass in small groups, and have incredible utility with crowd control, feign death and rez. None of the preceding applies to epics, sadly.

+10 Internets | Hate to put it here, but I can't seem to find the EQ2 newbie thread. Funny that I posted here yesterday as I got a mailer today stating my account was re-activated with all expansions until November 4th. Anyway, looking for suggestions on where and what to level. First off, I would much much prefer to be an evil race/class. Secondly, I work the graveyard shift and my playtime will probably be between 10 AM - 3 PM so I need a class that can solo without too much pain. What races can start in Neriak, and what zones should I go to/avoid? Or are there any servers with a strong early morning population? Any servers to avoid? My class preference, in order, would probably be : Assassin, SK, Coercer, any. Also, how is crafting now? What are good ones to make money with? What is a good crafting site? Lastly, what are some good UIs? Ok, I'm done. I promise to not Sithro up this thread. |

| I dont remember enough about the newbie game to be much help on that. However, the classes you listed are all decent levelers. The Assassin is ALOT of busy work to be effective, if your lazy the class sucks but I assume you knew that. The SK (assuming you keep gear up to level) is a monster soloer as well. The Coercer is extremely dependent on what rank your charm is. If you get a master ranked charm Coercers can be un-fucking-stoppable killing machines. If your using like an adept 1 or something the class will make you want to punch babies. I have heard of Coercers doing insane shit with the right pet, but from personal experience they take ALOT of patience and skill to pull that kind of stuff off. Id suggest Antonia Bayle for the server but only because its high on population. Its a RP server though so youll have to deal with some of those freaks from time to time. Its not as bad as WoW rping, I havnt found any elves cyboring...yet. One last thing. If you have any sort of funding or friends who can hook you up turning in collection quests can be a VERY quick way to gain some levels. I had a list once of all the collections that wernt stupid expensive and could get any alt I wanted to 20 without doing shit. It can be a bit pricey but if you're like me you hate the 1-20 game anyway so who cares ![]() |

Class: coercer need a high tolerance for deaths, but with a master charm they are insane. Without a master charm, let's say at least from the mid 30s one, it's a pita to solo. Assassins suck at soloing, they live from positional attacks and have only one stun on a long-ish reuse to use them. SKs solo pretty well from lvl 12 and beyond, if you ever plan to raid, forget about SKs. A brigand is a better choice than an assassin for soloing as a scout. All casters can solo, necros are just better than others for day to day killing. www.eq2interface for some UIs, profit is praised often, I don't like it, I use default plus a couple windows changed. Get eq2maps. Crafting: to make money level a jeweler, which if you pick a scout will get you also free app4/adept3s and half of your gear covered for every tier. Jewelry always sell, especially imbued rings. Woodworker also can earn some money and make some useful totem, but not like a jeweler.
