+4 Internets | The point being, most raid leaders with a clue would never pick a bard if a scout was called upon for the challenge. They are one of the poorest solo classes in game, hands down.

Any competent healer(s) will not go oom on Mayong as it is a relatively short fight (shorter than Tactician even).

| Only thing i talked about was the advice to use shards, hearts and manastone. That is universal eq2 advice that all guilds and probably all groups in the entire game will use if available. Basically it is comparable to telling a guild having issuues on any given eq1 fight during PoP that all they have to do is use C5. Also a guild wont nescesarry kill MM right away just becuase they have competent healers. There are plenty of guilds out there with competent healers who wont nescesarry hammer through mayong just becuase the healers are competent. |

| The reason why I didn't mention the "cure omg cure" part was because pretty much every EoF boss, especially in MMIS, has some type of status ailment that must be cured. edit: BTW, I never said guilds would one shot Mayong. On the contrary, they'll probably wipe several times just to figure out the timers and adds and such.

+71 Internets | I was playing around in Play the Fae yesterday, and couldn't help but laugh at the fact that level 5 truely is the best time in EQ2. Health/mana resets every kill or two, only six spells to cast, HO actually does something useful... too bad its all downhill from there! |

| I'm thinking about buying EQ2, but I'm one of those people who will read and research for weeks and spend another week doing my UI before I even move my character. This game really throws me off with the way the classes are set up. I've heard there has been, and still are ongoing major combat changes. I've read through this thread http://www.fohguild.org/forums/mmorp...s-rundown.html and other EQ2 sites for a general idea, but I can't find any relevant info for someone like me. I'm a min/maxer, theorycrafter. I like having 1 job, and doing it the best, with as little shitty utility thrown in for fluff as possible ( I believe there is a difference between shitty and good utility ex. Monk/Bard pulling vs tanking/dps druid and pals. I played a mage in EQ from vanilla till the mod rod nerf. Being a mod rod bitch sucked, but it got the job done. After that I was a watered down wizzy, so I re-rolled and stuck my my mage in VT as a CoH bitch. Is there a site with a rundown of class skills and spells like Thottbot or Lucy? I'm looking for a website that is the EQ2 equivalent of EJ forums for WoW ( A site with alot of theorycrafting / parsing ). Is there a serverwide guild progression chart? I've got EQ2Interface bookmarked, are there any others I should look at? Any other website recommendations at all? My goal is to sit down, set myself up on knowledge and then play right up to applying to a raiding guild. Last edited by Avatar16789; 10-04-2007 at 01:58 AM.. |

| I dont know about any special sites but I am sure if you asked a bunch of questions about a certain class at least someone around here could answer them for you. Seem to have a healthy amount of EQ2 players on these boards. |

Honestly, your best bet for class info is here. This site is the bible. Guild progression charts are usually found in this section. A whole bunch of nonsense flames and some good info (just like these forums here) can be found here. Mod rodding is still in the game, sort of, with necros and conjurers (both pet class casters) being summoning mana regen clicky bitches. If you are really into min maxing, you will want to play a tier 1 dps class (Assassin, Ranger, Wizard, Swash). Some classes bleed into tier 1 dps but they are more situational. Outside tier 1, its less clear who is the "best of the best", those classes are where all the rest of the min maxers gravitate to. If you want to lead raids, physically being the leader on the ground, you want a guardian or an SK (guards are better but harder to level). Theres a ton of support roles (bards, healers, debuffing scouts, 2 types of enchanters etc) if thats what you seek. Some classes like Monk / Bruiser are hard to peg, they tank okay and dps okay from 1-70 but their raid role is more dps with no tanking, and others do it better. All classes can do well, especially if well geared and well played however. Finally, you can definatey get a rough picture of what your chosen class can do, and what life will be like 1-70 and beyond into raiding from research, but generally speaking, you will learn a lot, lot more by actually playing the class. You can get level 10 in an hour or 2, and level 20 in a few more hours, so its totally possible to play several classes to that level and get a general feel for how they play, and what they do. Figure out what type of role you want to play, tank, dps, healer or utility, and then narrow it down from there.

+71 Internets | The answer depends on if you want to raid or not. Unless things changed drastically the only classes to avoid are Knights and Bruisers, and maybe Coercer/Dirge. I liked Brigand just for having the single best raid DPS ability in the game. Announce your dispatch to the raid and watch the mob explode. |
