+23 Internets | Having to pay for Hardcore mode and to remove a level cap is gay as balls. I can understand subbing for new content, new items, even extra character slots, thats fine and great. But Hardcore mode and a level cap? How much recourses and dev time does it take to implement hardcore mode? Where's the justification for adding HC mode to the elite sub plan? It's a money grab, and money grabs suck. |

+13 Internets | I can't believe you're all still whining about a pitiful $15 a month. If you don't think the game is worth the extra hamburger a month, then don't pay it, walk away and live happy lives doing something else. Just for the love of god, stop crying about it.

Hellgate does look pretty good. I don't think I'll subscribe--even if it means I won't be getting access to uber_weapon_05.

This is what the wiki says: Subscription Benefits Subscribers get these added perks * 9 additional character slots * ongoing content adding more items into the pool, and areas to explore * double the universal storage * use of guild housing and guild creation features * VIP shuttling * Added gameplay modes So besides the updated content thing, you're missing on hardcore mode, guild creation(but you can join guilds without paying), char slots which sucks if you like rolling lots of alts, account bank space which sucks if you like collecting rare items and queue priority when servers are full, which hopefully shouldn't happen too often. That sounds rather decent to me, I can live without any of these features, I'm just annoyed at the char slots since I like rolling multiple chars, but I'll just choose the ones I like most. I also guess you can pay 10$ one month, make new chars during this month, then just stop paying and you won't have access to these chars anymore, but they won't be deleted.

Anywy I'm pretty excited about the beta, not because I'm really looking forward to the game, but because I've been bored to hell lately with nothing to play ^^. I hope the game can keep me interested for a few months.

But the worst really isn't so much that I don't have something to play NOW, it's that I don't see myself playing anything anytime soon either. Warhammer looks like slowmo wow with boring classes and AoC had so many bad rumors about it I almost thought Brad was actually working on it. The future of mmorpgs look grim to me, maybe I'm just getting old.

Mabye we have just gotten so good games don't last us more then a week anymore but I am really begging for a nice decent 12 month game addiction... I miss passing out on the keyboard because a game was just that good... |

+39 Internets | Gamespot has done an interview with Flagship Studios writer, Ivan Sulic. The interview details of the various quest types in Hellgate as well as a few specific quests, mainly the RTS type quest and a Turret shooting quest. Ivan Sulic: I believe we’re at about 250 quests for launch. There are essentially three primary quest types in Hellgate: London. We have story quests, template quests, and…um…tasks? The names get changed often. Apparently “task” isn’t very exciting. Let’s just call them, “Those grand opportunities of much astonishing fun.” Anyway, story quests are entirely unique. They are coded to offer experiences that may include minigames, special scenarios and/or events, environment alterations, and scripts not found in template quests. Template quests are pretty straightforward. They are built off eight basic formulas: collect, explore, escort, infestation, hunt, travel/talk-and-do, use item, and operate object. The final type, which I’ll just keep right on calling “tasks” until someone kills me with a hammer, are combinations of templates and story quests. To go along with this, the RTS quest and the Turret quest are shown in a video. This game is going to be huge. Its nuts that people with the track record of Bill Roper and his team have so many doubters; its the total opposite of Vanguard getting so much positive hype, before people had played it. | I think a lot of people are getting their panties in a bunch over the whole fee thing. If the game is generally well received they'll probably be able to overcome that though. We'll see how it turns out in October. Edit: And yes, if that trailer had genitals I'd fuck it. I <3 games with good trailers, the fact that FS have put so much effort into theirs says something about them, imo, as with most companies. Last edited by Azrayne; 09-16-2007 at 06:51 AM.. |
