| You don't have to pay $10 a month though. Infact theres almost no reason to now that they gave everyone 24 char slots. For a single purchase the game is well worth the money.

| Meh, I'm uninstalling this and giving it a few more months of patches funded by retards that subscribed/paid founders. Maybe then it'll be stable and have an endgame. Balanced and fleshed out skilltrees are, unfortunately, a pipe dream, though. |

| I don't regret buying the game, even though it is screwed up in many ways. I do treat it as a 100% solo game though really and would love them to patch in shared stashes sometime. So much pretty stuff for alts that I never get around to transferring! Then again, none of my buddies play and that might be coloring my impressions of the multiplayer mode. I doubt it though as the game seems best suited to playing for an hour when bored rather than grouping to kill something interesting. I am damned glad I never subbed up though of course.

I had to stop playing after the 5th debacle, then came back an hour or so later and tried again. This time, the map was totally different, as advertised. The new layout allowed me to get rather close to the big guy without aggro'ing his horde. I just kept him near the edge of the screen and spammed air strikes. Done and done, a few ignites and he was toast, then an escape portal thing opens where he died, run in and done. I also am enjoying the game quite a bit though, I am playing Multiplayer but just going solo the whole time. I guess I just like seeing other people in the hubs or whatever. Since the .5 patch there are more folks using the chat system to form groups and trade. Not as much as I am hoping to see in the future, but compared to prior to the patch, there is much more communication between players. The gold sellers and power levelers are already making a presence as well. | |

+38 Internets | The RTS on nightmare is just absolutely broken. I'm pretty sure the NPC's are linked to your level. So if you're trying at level 38, and the enemies are level 44, the NPC's don't even scratch them. They can't even get past the first patch of zombies. The air strikes don't even dent mob hitpoints. Fuck the high end game in the ass with a steel pipe covered in nails. |

+1 Internets | I'll reinstall this if any one person here who likes this game can tell me about one thing in it that was designed and not just randomly thrown together. Note that by "designed" I mean planned, discussed, modeled, tested, fixed, expanded upon, polished, and then released -- in that order, and usually with a few wash-rinse-repeats thrown in for good measure. |

+13 Internets | For those still playing, you can more or less skip the RTS bit. The trick is to ignore your useless squad and just click ahead to the boss at the end. Then load him up with airstrikes. He should catch fire relatively easy and just die from the 5%/tick damage. Then click the portal that spawns. No idea if it works on nightmare but then, lolz if you're still playing by then you, probably have a high tolerance for bullshit anyway.

+39 Internets | Gave up playing after spending some time on Nightmare. Its obviously possible to get through Nightmare, but sometimes its do a little damage, die, spawn, do a bit more damage etc One of their CR's responded saying its supposed to be hard, they could make it easier and call it 'Wet Dreams' level. They haven't got a fucking clue about their own game. They increased difficulty by a blanket level across the whole game not long before release and broke nightmare. Their 'QA' (wonder if they recruited Vanguards QA department) are testing NM and saying its difficult but not broken. I suspect they are just creating level appropriate characters for each part, rather than testing by trying to play the game. Bill Roper et al have lost a decades worth of respect in a few weeks; pissed off from the start when they changed their mind on US / EU versions. Just before release it said on their web site EU and US versions would be cross compatible ie sub and CE benefits would work on both. Then at release they realised they could screw EU subs for an extra 50 bucks, so EU and US are now separate. EU founders paid $200 compared to $150 for US. What a bargain ! |

+38 Internets | What made the nightmare/hell difficulty levels harder in Diablo was the requirement of more and more resistances. On normal, you could cruise through the game with no resistances. On nightmare, if you wore no resistance gear, you could kiss your ass goodbye. It made the game quite challenging because your gear choices and damage output had to be offset against your survivability. Even Titan Quest got this right. Hellgate's 'difficulty' isn't about survivabilty or damage or resistances. Its about giving the mobs so many hit points and so much damage that its suddenly 'hard'! You can't trade off dps for survivability either, because of stat feeds. Even if you wanted to wear super heavy gear with extra +armor on it (shields are useless thanks to retarded design decisions), you can't wear it. The stat feeds get ridiculously large around level 35. This is a competent design decision if you want to limit players to only being able to choose one good piece of gear, and the rest of your equipment has to be crap you bought back in normal mode. IT MAKES THE GAME CHALLENGING. The high end game is so ridiculously bad I think I love it. |
