There's two melee classes, Guardians and Blademasters. Last time I played a Guardian it was nuts. You can basically run into a room, throw out a taunt (which causes nearly every mob in the room to run straight up to you, even if it's a caster/ranged attacker) and then beat them down using an AE attacking sword. You are also basically unkillable.

The only problem is that it got real boring doing the same exact thing every room, and the melee fighting in general felt kind of clunky to me.

I never really played to a decent level as a Blademaster.

That actually sounds really fun to me. rofl.

Blademaster sounds like it might be more dps oriented though, which I tend to lean towards. Someone said their skill tree is all over the place though, maybe they need some tweaks.

Meh. I'm trying really hard not to buy this game because I'm afraid I'll regret it, but it really does sound cool. I never got to play beta so I'm in the dark on it all.

Reading the forums is so amusing. It seems a lot of bugs and issues from beta are still prevalent and people are going ballistic. My favorite issue is not allowing spaces in guild names and having a 15 char limit.

Blademaster is more like WoW warriors, whirlwinding and charging mobs rapidly like a murder machine.

I'm playing an Engineer.

These guys are brutal imo, I keep the minibots up
Snarebots I call'em. Then I basically just kite the named around while they're 40+% snared.

And I have a rocket bot that adds extra dps, while my 78 direct dmg, 20% Toxic dmg and 10% fire dmg finishes the job.

The gun also procs fire nova which causes 5% dmg to any mob in the nova... basically I can clear levels insanely fast.

Oh, and if anyone is interested in grouping online (Shulgoth(sp) server)

My character name is Nostrovia.

Is there a way to disable the "getting hit" graphic (flashing red light at the edges of the screen)? I never noticed that in Beta, but it sure is annoying right now.

Game runs fine (in WinXP) with settings at High/Very High (AA off), though it crashes/locks-up whenever I try to exit. Screen just freezes and I have to hit the reset button. Also annoying.

Blademasters have INSANE dps, but are pretty vulnerable. You are a total potion addict and actually need to avoid getting completely mobbed, but they slice and dice like no other, you can level stupidly fast.

The "getting hit" red glare is new, yes, and annoying, yes, and I've had it get stuck permanently on a few times now, fun new bug.

Final dungeon in act 4... Exodus, if you leave it via any method at all (exit right at the beginning, crash, port out, log out, etc) you are unable to get back in via any means.

Basically if you leave it, voluntarily or involuntarily, you're fucked and permanently stuck in Act 4 on that character. Huge thread about this in the bugs forums.

guardian is like the paladin archetype. Sword/shield, heals, very hard to kill. I have ~75% mitigation plus my armor increases per mob within my aura. When I start a second character, I know I'll be pissed by the fact that I am actually killable.

blademaster is more like WoW dps warrior / berserker archetype. I haven't seen many of them and I'm not certain if the need to be in melee range but being without the survivability of the guardian is much of a problem. Their DPS is pretty amazing though.

I agree with the guardian stuff. The only things that can stop me right now are the random crashes. Well, not so random, every hour and a half or so. I'm almost to the point where I'm going to uninstall. Not only does the game crash, but it locks my system as well, so I have to restart.

I'm running a 8800 gts/2 gigs of ram/2.13 dual core/other good shit. It's the same exact build as my roomate's, the only difference is that he's running Vista (in DX9 though). Vista > XP? For Hellgate atleast it seems to be.
