+166 Internets | I'm thinking I'll pick up this and Tabula Rasa. Whether I'm in the mood for slaughtering aliens or demons, I'll have my pick. They seem very similar all things considered. Interesting times ahead. I think the one that manaes to put together a more entertaining PvP/end game scenario will be the ultimate winner. |

| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | edit: They just updated that today with more info about in store. Gotta go tomorrow and do the whole e-mail dance so I can get my beta key. Gotta remember to print out a copy first. I'm fucking excited about hellgate.

Characters have a skill tree, but its not like D2/WoW skill trees. Very little dependancy on other skills. My summoner has 23 or so skills. 9 are different pets. (healing pets, nuking pets, tanking pets and I can have a bunch out all at once as long as I have the skills learned) Some pets have 1 or 2 sub skills that branch off of the particular pet skill. The game engine reminds me of WoW. It can run well and look good on mid/low end systems and at the same time you have the option to boost the graphics up on high end systems. I think that fact will allow it to attract a wide range of players. Weapons I've seen have 1-4 mod slots on them to insert stuff into. The nice thing is, for a small fee you can pop out the mods and add them to new and better items you find. I love the toxic weapons for the summoner, it is basically like a BFG cloud of doom that AE destroys your target =) Guild Wars style dismantling on gear/weapons. However you don't need tools to do it. So no annoying trips back and forth to town with all the loot you acquire but don't need. You just break it down instantly on the spot. You can save up those mats to upgrade items. It is a bit easy at first but you can unlock nightmare mode for more of a challenge.

I think it's kinda weird that they have two pet classes out of six total, but I think the Engineer isn't as pet-dependent as the Summoner - being a Hunter, they also use guns. I'm guessing.
