The game is definitely different from what I expected. I currently rolled an Evoker and was excepting a typical WoW or Diablo battle system, however, combat is handled much differently. The class (and I'm assuming other ranged DPS as well) plays like a shooter would, whereas you have to aim with your mouse and click to fire your equipped weapon. Ranged spells are also handled in this manner but instead are delegated to hot keys on your number row. The skill trees and attribute system are done rather well, much more detailed and room for specialization when compared to something like WoW's talent system. I haven't put too many hours into the game yet, what with Eternal Sonata, TF2, and Halo 3 taking up a lot of my time atm. I'd be happy to go further in depth if anyone wants any more info, would even be willing to start up another class and FRAPs some things if you'd like.

How fast paced is the combat? Fom the video's I've seen so far it looks like players are just running around killing a couple enemies at a time. Are there any 'yeah I just wiped out 20 or 30 demons at once' Diablo 2 type moments?

This is wrong; very, very wrong. There is absolutely not room for specialization when they have level requirements for each individual skill level--IE you can put a point into Big Brown Goo at lvl 5 but can't put a second point into it until lvl 8, and then 11, etc. This forces you to put points into everything, or simply sit on them, which is oh so exciting. It really makes you look forward to leveling when you know you won't get any reward until you hit 10, or 15, or 20. Since there is no respec, this means everyone will either A) have the same spec since there are very limited options as to where you can actually put your points or B) have the same spec at 50 after having sat on countless points doing nothing but waiting to hit the required level to get the best skills.

They don't ship international though so us Europeans are out of luck with them.

Before, as in previously to HG:L.

This whole mess is my fault, since I'm the one that first mentioned GoGamer. As a note, though, my experiences match everyone else - I got my code from them really fast. 50 minutes from my order confirmation to receiving the code.

This seems to be more like the D2 Talent specs then the WoW ones. As long as you can save your points until you hit the level requirements, I don't see what the problem is.

From what I've seen from the Talent trees, you have much more "freedom" then you do in WoW; meaning that you don't have to take 5 talents you don't care for just to get the one you want. Granted, all spells are given from the Talent trees, so I guess it kind of evens out a bit.

Yea, I saved points all the time for builds in D2. They went with a good model that promotes difference pretty well from what I've seen so far. Having to wait levels to level up your spells makes sense of course.

How idiotic can you be. How many more people have to 'hint' that they are thoroughly enjoying it before you would at least relegate it to the realm of mediocrity?

Some of the people in this thread, as per usual, are shitting on things for no reason. Oh, and Hachima, get off that probable shill's jock. It's obvious to anyone with a grade-school level reading comprehension what he was saying. Let me spell it out for you. "I've never actually ordered from them before..."(until Hellgate: London, this time, since I just told you I got a pre-order code from them, and my one experience has been good so...) "I was just backing it up with my own experience...sorry."

If you want to crusade against the shills, find a reason other than basic sentence structure.

Could you give, say, 3 examples of how it promotes difference within the same class? We could even take it to PMs if we're concerned about NDA breach, but I'd like to know what you think, because I think the opposite and have yet to see a compelling argument for diversity.

Considering you can't max everything at max level, you'll have to make choices. Sure currently with low level cap and the fact we don't know much about the game, everyone gets the same skills, and mostly put one point in everything to test it out. If you consider the end game tho, unless you just want to beat the game, you'll probably min max stuff by limiting yourself in your choices.

For example as a guardian, if you play in groups, you'll probably want to work on the taunt line, you have to choose one or 2 auras max out of the 5-6, you either get shield of faith or healing, and you put some points into shield stuff to kill mobs. A solo oriented player would replace taunts with sword attacks and charge stuff.

It's not HUGE differences, but I think you can pretty much make a group and a solo oriented build for every class. The main issue I have with skills is some classes, namely evoker and marksmen, seems to have enough not so great skills or passives that you don't really have much choice.

Overall I think the game's pretty decent, even tho it lacks a big coat of polish. Quite a few features are missing from the beta version, not sure if they'tre just holding them or if they'll fail release. However what I expected before playing seems right, I definitely won't pay, at least not more than once every now and then to play new content then wait for more. Out of the last betas I played, it ranked pretty high on the fun compared to the rest. I'm still hesitating to preorder HL2 to play TF2, everyone who played it said it was made of awesome and win.

I'll bitch by the fact that I have to wait till fucking next week for my in-store. It's fucking annoying.
