| Maybe someone here has some advice... I'm looking for a decent pair of pants for a Samurai after AF1, but before Byakko's Haidate. It'll be awhile before I get Haidate, and Shura and AF+1 are probably about the same distance away. I just really hate wearing AF1 legs, but I can't figure out what would be better. Hachiman legs are awful, as are Saotome (AF2). Any ideas? Anything? I've tried. ![]() |

| Hume RSE would be Custom Pants, which are caster stats, so they won't work. Should've specified my race, oops. Hachiman Hakama are just really, really bad. It's just an awkward place for that Store TP that doesn't really fit well into any other equipment build I can come up with. Dusk Trousers might do the job...That is an 11 attack increase, which should make up for the 3 STR lost upgrading from AF1. 35 HP surely won't make up for +10 parrying, but hey, I'm not trying to get hit anyway. Has anyone used Dusk armor? Is the movement penalty from two pieces (Dusk Gloves for TPing) so bad as to make it hard to get around in combat? |

Play with this, it makes a huge difference. Everyone. While I play in say 1680x1050 these days, I still set the background res to something nuts beyond that, it really makes a difference in texture quality. The game was ported from PS2 so you gotta tweak where you can. While I unfortunately can't get myself to play again (tried a few weeks ago.) I do look there to keep up on shit now and again, I think ffxionline.com is one of the best forums out there. Vinen may know better these days though, but I've been a member there for years and thought that alot of the information is pretty damn useful and not cluttered with bullshit. +59 Internets | Got two levels tonight, had a guy from the linkshell in my group the whole time. Exp was painfully slow in the dunes until some PL healer showed up (we had no healer before that). After that I probably would've forced myself to go all night just because it was so much better than I was used to if the group wasn't breaking up. Got my crab piece or whatever for my sub-job thing too. May have activated the Taru for nothing now, but at least I'll have a mule if I need one heh. Right now current advanced jobs I'm looking at are Ninjas and Dragoons. I like the way the Samurai and Dark Knight appear to be, but I really don't want to be tanking in groups for some reason. I guess Warrior is going to be one of my jobs since thats how I started, how are the two I mentioned with that and what are some other warrior combos I should look at? |

DD (direct damage) DRG, SAM, WAR, DRK, THF, MNK, RNG, NIN, BLU Magic Damage BLM, RDM, BLU Tank PLD, NIN, WAR(mostly pre-40, but is fully capable of tanking until 75 subbing MNK or NIN). Some HNM Linkshells use RDM/NIN. Support BRD, COR, RDM Other BST, PUP None of these are perfectly steadfast categories. BST has A- axe skill and gets basically the same WSes as warriors, but they don't have access to all the damage equipment that wars do, but pets do make up for quite a bit of that discrepancy. I know basically nothing about PUP, can't really comment. As far as you not wanting to tank, choose from: SAM, DRG, DRK, MNK, BLU, RNG, BLM(not invited to parties often anymore, gonna solo a LOT), THF(not a widely used job anymore). These are your damage dealing classes. You're gonna want to take WAR to 37 for subjob purposes. Also, NIN to 37 most likely as well. WAR and NIN can both DD or tank, and will do both. Good websites with a ton of information: Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel - use the forums Main Page - FFXIclopedia - a Wikia wiki - omfg I love this site. More than you could ever want to know about FFXI. Order of the Blue Gartr • Index page - high end LS's forum, think of it as the FoHguild/EJ of the FFXI world. Oh yeah, this is Spheric from in game.

| Oh yeah, and just had to post this. Was mining in Zeruhn mines last night and I got the best Mining Point EVER. 3xCopper 1xZinc 2xTin 2xIron THREE THREE THREEx Darksteel Was the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen. Was mining this morning and got another darksteel, so i'm doing very well on the cash front at the moment. But I'm wanting/needing to take Smithing/Goldsmithing to 20 each, only to 8 on Goldsmithing. So that nest egg is gonna diminish, at least for a bit. Unless I continue to get lucky with darksteel.

| Blarg. Ok I thought I found how to get a controller working but as soon as I get out of the playonline window it just goes back to not being able to be used and I can't find an option in the config in game for the life of me. Is there some trick to getting controller going? Last edited by daishinzo; 11-01-2007 at 12:52 AM.. |

Start > Programs > PlayOnline > Final Fantasy XI > Final Fantasy XI config The controller won't work in game if you change the play online config, and vice versa if you only changed the other.

Didn't THF/WAR or WAR/THF used to be pretty popular? What happened to that?

War/Thf is a beast with great axe at higher levels when they have Sneak / Trick Attack. All jobs have their place really, while jobs like Blm are currently not flavour of the month that can change rapidly depending on an update or the new expansion. Read up a little on the jobs and choose the one you think you'll enjoy playing because you'll be playing it a while. Last thing you want to do is choose an easy invite job like Brd and find it's the dullest shit in the world to play, which it really is, because it will kill your enjoyment of the game.
