Well after about 10 hours of patching from NA release version of FFXI install, and figuring out how to work the return to VD, I got my character back. I guess he is level 56 Nin, and the Sam is only 32 (thought he was higher), but anyways, I will work on getting him transferred later this week and hopefully get him some basic gear to start his leveling.

Characters name is Stave. I am currently on Asura but coming to Fenrir real soon.

Bahamut looked really cool.

It looked like he just stood there though, he didnt have any sort of animation at all except just hovering there. Is it because the person fraping the battle was standing far away? I also didnt understand the end where he warped or something, never saw Bahamut die.

Yes. Also, Bahamut gives up he doesn't die. You get the loot tossed into the pool and are kicked out of the instance area of the zone back into the main area. (Riverne Site B01)

Few things while I remember.

To add someone to your Friends List you can use the following command.

/befriend < name >

Only works if the person is online though.

Regarding character animations, taru /panic is THE character animation out of any game.

Ham, why don't you keep your character and just roll a taru. Think the extra toon costs less than a dollar a month and in time you'll end up making a mule anyway, trust me on this.

Ok so I went out and bought the game cause for 20$ and me being so bored I figured I'd finally give it a whirl due to some friends loving it and this thread sparking up some interest.

Are there any good sites to read up on jobs and such? I have skimmed FFXI Final Fantasy XI Information but it seems out of date missing corsair and dancer and blue mage and whatever else.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go red mage/ninja eventually or possibly red mage/white mage after reading random crap on the internets.

Everyone recommend playing with a controller? I have a ps2 controller I can use and some other gaming pc controller w/ even more buttons. The game is heavily macro based from what friends have told me?

Just rolled a RDM named "dayvan" to anyone on now. Waiting on a link from the posts 2 up to read up more on classes so just figured to play around with this Taru in the meantime. Think I want to do Ninja later on afterall or perhaps Red Mage (combination of magic + melee appeals to me). Though with the pace of leveling here want to make sure I start on one of the jobs I'll be using later so I don't have to go back

You will not be meleeing that much if at all.. ever in XP. RDM melee is exclusive to solo in very limited situations.
