| As far as I know, you cannot tell if a mob is aggro in-game. Conning a mob will tell you the difficulty of the mob. The color of the mob's name determines if they are open for combat. White = Normal. Purple = Locked in by another player/group. Red = Locked in by you/your group. Edit: ^^ Yeah what Vinen said :P |

+13 Internets | I'm gonna start mass sending friend invites today then. I don't suppose they have added EQ1-esque custom chat channels since I last played have they? Those were amazing for projects like this.

+4 Internets | I just don't see what you guys like about this game. I tried it out way back during the first month of release on the PC and made it up to about level 45 with a Galka PLD/WAR. I was basically one of the highest American tanks in the game (in which case tanks were in demand) and I still had a very hard time trying to find a group. In fact what made me quit was the last day I was logged in: I tried for 6 hours to get a group and never did. You can't solo in the game, the community sucks (mostly asians), the economy sucked balls, the interface was horrible, the graphics were mostly lame (highly pixalated even on PC), the controls were awful, I think the real reason why everyone has played it for so long is the name Final Fantasy. |

+13 Internets | I'm all the way out in sandy unfortunately or I would. I also can't figure out how to add people to the friend list without targeting them so scratch that idea.

Interesting combat mechanics. Group based play which WoW currently lacks and exp in EQ2 was boring to me. Endgame is better now than it was at release, though I haven't seen any of the new stuff yet. But it's not all a massive grief fest. I've run into more English speaking players now than I did at release, obviously. Controls are not that great, but I can live with them. Who care about soloing? I do enough of that in WoW. Economy is better than it used to be. Interface is kinda lame cause you can't customize it, but windower helps a lot. Pixelation is better when you use registry edits or other tools to increase the texture resolution. Different strokes for different folks. WoW is boring to me right now, since everything has been on farm since July. I can log onto FFXI with some other friends and we exp and it's enjoyable.

Because the game has changed since you last played it? ... FFXI has undergone some of the greatest improvements of any MMO ever. NA is the majority now. I rather like the graphics, the models ARE THE BEST I've seen in an MMO. They actually appear to live... and the movements are amazing.

1. The skill of the player really matters. There is quite a big difference in someone who just doesn't know how to play, and somebody who is a good player. I really enjoy that, in any game. 2. I really enjoy the job system, although I could see why some would not like it. I love how different each job is, how you can multi-job, and how many jobs there are. 3. The graphics look great on my PC. They were a little grainy before I changed my background resolution to 2048x2048 via the Mogtoolz, but after that, they look nice. 4. The people/guild/LS I am in is awesome. Everyone is very nice and helps me every second they can. A good community really makes a difference. 5. It's hard. A lot of the people coming back to the game, or just trying the game for the first time are looking for a challenge. Some people are tired of the WoW/EQ2 easymode gameplay. FFXI makes EQ1 look like WoW as far as difficulty is concerned.

+13 Internets | It's def not easy, but I wouldn't go THAT far =P Original EQ, at release anyway, was a fucking nightmare. Anyone familiar with sandy missions? I'm on the rapierres(sp?) tomb one to kill bats, but I don't know what I need to prove my killing of them, a bat fang or what?

+58 Internets | Oh yeah I see you guys mentioning the graphics. And while I think the players themself look rather dull, the models and the animations of mobs are definitely the best I've ever seen. Just looking at the vultures in the noobie areas flap their wings I was impressed. Player models could definitely use a bit of a touch up though |
