To meet your friend you do not have to goto Jeuno at least!

Windurst -> East Saru -> Tahrongi -> Bubrimu Pennisula -> Mhuara -> BOAT (STAY INSIDE, DO NOT GO OUT ON THE DECK) -> Selbina -> Valkurm -> Konschat Highlands -> Northern Gustaburg -> Southern Gustaburg -> Bastok

Good idea is to start on the Outpost supply runs your gate guard offers you as well. Once you have done a run to a certain outpost you can, with a few certain limitations, port back and forth between it and your nation city.

Where should I be hunting after I'm done with bees and worms? I'm in bastok and was perfectly content with low experience slaughtering of low level mobs, but it seems they don't net experience at level 8. The rock lizards and giant turtle men don't seem worth it with their petrification and stuns. So hoping to find some pansies to murder again.

Yeah, that'll get you to 9 at a crawl, for 10+ you should head north into the Konschtat Highlands. This site is pretty kick ass for getting your bearings and seeing how the zones connect.

I'm really wanting to subscribe now but because of their stupid EU billing procedure I'd end up paying a full month just to play to the 31st October then another month again for November. Guess I'll see you all on 1st.

I am planning to give FFXI a try, and a friend want to give me his account, but the question is can i play an US account with the french CDs? No idea if the game is localized or if there are server restrictions for europeans like there are in WoW... .

You'll need the North American PoL version to amend the billing details / activate the account. Once that's done you can launch your friend's account on any version.

Yeah noticing that's a major pain. The stuff is killable but seems to require a rest after 2 fights. Also the occasional wanderer smacks me. Kind of a bitch for search an early level but oh well.

swear to god those turtles find me when I'm low health everytime. Have died 3 times in the last half hour just trying to rest lol

Well, if you know someone who plays in the US, or has a US POL, and you trust them with your details you could get them to log on the account, change the details to your own, credit card included, and Bob's your uncle.

If you can tough out the start of FFXI, the game becomes a ton of fun the higher level you get, especially as you start flushing out subjobs, and being able to play multiple roles any given night, but you have the benefit of faction, gear, quest completes, teleports etc.
