Yeah at some point I had an existing account with them, and somehow forgot about it. When I was married I didn't take care of my bills my wife did and so I often forgot about games I had subscribed to and stopped playing. Anyway My visa Expired and I got a new one so I had to re-submit to whatever I was getting charged monthly for, I forgot I even had a FF sub going until 3 months or so later when I started to receive E-mails from them threating legal action over money I owed them due to them being unable to collect payment. I ignored them, that was probably 3 years ago now or so,maybe longer, whenever the game came out I guess ... In any case they have some very interesting practice when it comes to their subscription system.

| If I remember correctly everything about this game was a pain in the ass. Even creating an account and canceling an account sucked and was complicated. Also the controls pissed me off to no end.

+13 Internets | I dunno, my account is 3(ish?) years old and they never deleted it. A friend of mine canceled his and got that must-rebuy game schtick from them, but he called and bitched at them and they gave him new codes for free. Goddamnit, now I wanna play FF11 again, I really loved that game, just never had any reliable people to play with.

It's pretty stupid to just save accounts for 1 year. They must lose a lot of money they could get from returning players.

| Final fantasy went the same way Ultima Online went for me. INstalled... started... WTF IS THIS SHIT... 30sec later deinstalled. It raped my eyes and wanted to hurt my fingers. I wuld have given it another try beyond the ugly game and klunky interface if they would have let me. But no they prefered deleting my account after inactivity lol. +10 Internets | FFXI has probably the shittiest interface known to man, barring maybe Gothic. But that isn't the main reason I hated it. They also had the shittiest newbie experience I've ever seen. I loved having to rest after every 1-2 fights for several minutes. I spent more of my time alt tabbed out than I did interacting with it (sounds familiar!) I also loved newbie mobs that would stun you for 15+ seconds that you had absolutely no counter to. The races were bland as hell too. A real shame as I really wanted to like it. The job system and group combat sounded awesome. |

| Over the coures of 2 weeks I talked to 10 different people at SE trying to get my FFXI account information so I could start playing again. First they wanted the cc# that I paid my account with (I'd replaced the card 3 years ago) so I did that, then they asked for my registration codes (tossed them when I moved), then they asked me questions to confirm my identity, and after all that they said sorry they couldn't find my info in their system. I said I thought you didn't delete info because you were able to reactivate accounts for the return to vanadiel 1 and 2 events but the person didn't know what I was talking about. So to summarize, game is great but it's run far worse than wow which is amazing if you think about it. |
