I've said it before. Screw a fallout MMO. If interplay is going to make an MMO based on one of their franchises they should do a Descent MMO. It's far better suited IMO.

I hope Bethesda adds Cliff Racers to the game.

Hmmm. It could be good news, but it also sounds like it could all be pretext as part of some sketchy Interplay activity to seem legit. I don't doubt Anderson's sincerity, but I do doubt Caen's.

Good luck with that.

Honestly, that's just not a realistic timetable these days.

Edit: You're right.

Sounds like a PR move towards investors. I'm sure someone will fall for it though, if Bethesda gets massive success with the singleplayer game.

I want Bethesda to do the Fallout MMO. That way I can build my "Sniper Scout" (the supreme master of Sniper Rifles, Light Armor, and Sneaking) by tagging my main skills as Heavy Armor, Shotguns, and Bomb Defusing so I don't accidentally level up and gimp my character.

Almost all of the awesomness in Fallout was the dialog tree, though.

That and accidently cutting your own teammates in half with minigun burst fire. Whoops.

EDIT: Just noticed I made that same comment in the thread 4 months ago before someone necro'd it.

It could be the perfect getaway from classic highfantasy MMO's. A post-apo world should be easier than say starwars/startrek style of scifi

OH SNAP!
Fucking exploiters....

Quote:
We are planning to exploit our license back of "Fallout" MMOG and are reviewing the avenues for securing financing of at least $30 million to fund its production but no assurance can be made that we will be able to do so, and our license back may as a result be terminated.

However, since inception, we have incurred significant losses and negative cash flow. As of December 31, 2007 we had an accumulated deficit of $2.3 million.

We currently have five new products in early stages of development.

Fallout is the much bigger IP, IIRC, and is just fucking cool. So I disagree.

* * *

That being said, I absolutely don't see this happening with Interplay given its financial situation. They need a much bigger company to buy them and finance the MMO: SOE, Blizz(can never remember who their corporate parent is), EA, etc.

Fallout MMO would make zero sense whatsoever if it was anything but full out PVP, heavily influenced by faction.

Boys can dream, and men may hope but such a thing will never exist.

The glory of Fallout is split between the dialogue tree and how you could interact with the world. Did someone piss you off? Shoot them. Or, if you have stealing, plant armed explosives on them and run away. Or inject them with drugs and watch them freak out. Or take a fucking sledgehammer to their skull. The amount of style and flavor involved in the simple act of killing someone is staggering. More than that, all of your actions had repercussions due to the Karma system, which for some reason no other game I know of will rip off. Why? It's one of the simplest and easiest ways to add character depth. Companies with the balls to do a game like Fallout don't exist anymore, so I'm not exactly bemoaning over the endless delay of a Fallout mmo because it just won't be the same. I don't even care about F3 coming out this fall.

PS. Shooting a kid in the groin with a rocket launcher. Ballsiest shit a real game company has ever done.
